Hi.

I am new to GIMP and am currently following a tutorial which says to go to Filter > Filter All Layers but there is no option for that. I am stuck and confused. I did a little bit of Googling and I think I may have to download GAP... but that currently isn't going too well. Is that the only way? Can anyone help?!

Thank you.

Filter all Layers is just a utility plugin that simply applies some other filter(s) to all layers in a stack at once.
If you work on a video with hundreds of layers/frames Filter all layers is indispensable plugin, the reason
it's included in GAP package, but if it's just a dozen of layers you can apply that filter to each layer one by one and get the same result.
To answer your Q - yes, there is another way but it could be time consuming.

What tutorial is that? Maybe GMIC has a similar filter? It can apply its filters to all layers at once.

Have a look here... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9446#p122845

It's about a "Multiple Layer Actions Script". If you need this script, you'll find the download for it at the link above.

I wonder if it's possible to write a script that applies the last used filter to all layers or all linked layers?
Then you could run the filter you want on a layer, undo that filter with ctrl + z, and then apply it again with the "Filter All Layers Linked" script. :)

Of course this wouldn't and should not work with NEW images created from a filter.

That's a great idea Rod. Maybe someone we know will see this post. ;) ;)

I think that Gimp 2.8 has this filter as a preset, but don't quote me on that.

I am not sure if all plugins will RUN-WITH-LAST-VALS, but some may

Still waiting for a script like this to come to fruition.
