HI
My sister broke her arm yesterday and I am thinking of making her an arm with a cast in Gimp.
Do we have any kind of pattern or brushes that can create that?
Of course i also want to add a loving message on the cast.

A scratch type brush and bump-mapping would be helpful for texturing. I would use quite a few layers to build up the texture and shading.

I guess it depends on how realistic you would like your image to look. If you can draw an arm. It should be easy to add a cast to the drawing.
There are lots of fabric patterns that could be use to create the texture of the cast. You would need to find one that you like the look of.

Or you can take a google images pic of a cast and superimpose it over what you have drawn and use opacity level to make it look like you drew the textures.

I created this image below and used a pattern called "First Aid Kit" to give my cast it texture.

This is what the pattern looks like, it's a very subtle pattern, but look good. Often times a cast is not always white. This pattern can also be colorized in case the cast is not white.

I bump mapped the cast with a slightly blurred copy of itself, and I created the lines on the cast using the "Paths tool".

You're welcome and I'm pretty sure you'll figure something out.
