I don't know what is going on with my map to object but I get a brown square when I am trying to make my sphere. This has never happened before. I have been working on this for 2 hrs and still on the second step. Can anyone see anything on this screen that doesn't look right. How can something so easy be so hard. Maybe it is my gimp. Yes, I have an alpha channel.

It might be a close of part of your photo. I can't remember what causes it but instead of alpha to selection, I use layer to image size before map to object.

You have 2 layers there, maybe you should use the larger (full size) image to map from.

molly: just a thought - you did click "preview", didn't you? and there are no active selections anywhere?

That's a good point, it might still be showing it mapped to a plane. Make sure you have clicked the preview button.

Thanks Eris and AnMal, I did all that and did everything else besides all that, nothing worked, went back and saw 2-tons post, turn off gimp, turn back on, VOILA! it now works. grrrrrr,
stuff shouldn't happen when I am tired. Anyway, having trouble with the blur, I had to turn it way down to 5 instead of twenty, and I don't know what external blur means.

@Wallace, it said on the tute to use the layer I did use, the other layer is to use as the background. It is just Gimp acting very mean, I would like to kick it in the slats sometimes.

There's a little box that says blur outward which is checked by default.

hahaha, glad my 'catch-all' solution worked…reboot reboot reboot! I got into the habit of that when I had Window's Millennium.

The way I make a perfect sphere is map to object, but in a case of making one from a rectangular picture, I would say your way worked very well. just change the sizing and make the length and width the same dimensions.

Thank you Molly, now I understand. Anyway I've seen la difficulty in distort when there are objects in the sphere. I've added a solution in Manhattan-City, to this making it with MathMap. Would it help to the problem? :tyspin
