I came across a problem that is driving me crazy, and am looking for help! I do not use Gimp regularly, and often forget how I did things. A few years ago, I blurred (or feathered) some different images -- they looked great! I went to do it again today, and could not remember how to do it. I went to a number of sites, tried going through different steps, etc. I made sure it was RGB. I even started a new image, and still cannot apply the blur. The other tools (i.e. smudge) appear to work just fine.

I have tried with/without an alpha channel, with/without extra layers... just not sure what I am missing! Please help, anyone? Thank you!!

I forgot to mention that I even went back to a 2.6.x version -- same problem. It must be me, I just don't know what it is!

This is a difficult one to understand from your description. Could you attach an XCF here so that we can check it?

Blur/Sharpen Tool right? Not Blur Filters?

If it's Blur tool start by resetting the Blur Tools options and experiment with different sized brushes.
