For Graphic Novel Fx you need to install G'MIC (could you elaborate on what OS you use, Windows, Mac, etc.) G'MIC found here: http://gmic.sourceforge.net/gimp.shtml

To get the filter mentioned above working in G'MIC, you'll need to follow the same process mentioned here (your OS may be different, but the process is still the same): viewtopic.php?f=9&t=978

On the glossy text scripts, I have not seen any that come that close, although using selections, this script comes kind of close: http://registry.gimp.org/node/24926

Yeah most of those glossy effects are done in steps. You can find a few of those tutorials for them here at Gimp Chat.

Maybe Gimp will come out with it's own version of a Actions plug-in. That would be cool. =)
There are so many effects i have done that i wish i could repeat, it isn't funny.A Actions Plug-in would be awesome for that.

Thanks for the link, oh, and i use windows.

i thought there might be something so that i didn't have to work in steps but i guess not... yea it would be great if they come out with some sort of actions plug-in, hopefully they will soon...

I knew I saw a script for creating the candy striped text! It's available at http://www.aljacom.com/~gimp/script_fu.html and it works "Sweetly"! (pun intended)
