PhotoComix you asked about the convolution matrix so I thought I'd explore It's use in a couple of scripts

below It's used to provide shading or shadow to an Image

Check this out Graechan
I ran the script with defaults but changed it around a bit.
I dropped the Line layer below the Shade layer and set both to 100 opacity.
The line layer is set to grain merge and the shade layer is on color mode.
The original image is kept on the bottom.

Image

Here are the results with defaults before i changed the layers around.
Image

Just thought i would let you know. You may want to switch the layers around (line and Shade).

Of course switching the two layers and their modes and opacity made for better results also (without the original).
The opacity had to be much lower for the top (Shade), layer though.

Just a suggestion. :)

Thanks for exploring the script a bit Rod and I noticed how well it distinguished f/g from b/g

Nice one. Graechan. I like the way you handled the 2.8 & 2.8 support. :hehe

Here are my results, using a pic I took of New York New York from my car window in Vegas.

On this one. I kept the layers, used difference mode, colorized, then smoothed.

The results in the default mode turned out great! :coolthup
With courage I will explore another time to change the settings, and check the differences.
In my example I tried to reproduce the art GnuTux.
Thx you Graechan!
