Re: Bevel Reflect Logo V1.1 (Updates & Bug Fixes)

I just wanted to mention that the tip located here, for getting smooth edges was COMPLETELY WRONG.

If you followed those steps and didn't get the correct result, well that's what you get for listening to my (cough) great tips.

Anyway, I've now updated the post with the correct steps. Sorry about that. :tantrum

Such a great Script, with this and the Lighting effects scripts, some great arsenal has been added to the gimp library.

So this image has come about because I wanted something I could post over on DA to promote this wonderful scripts, I have used my own Solid Colour Map generator.

I was wondering why it wasn't getting any better. I thought it was just me. It usually is. :)

What is the font on the last one?

If the text you start with is jagged, then duplicating it and using it as a stoke or blend layer doesn't gain you anything. The text you start with (and duplicate) must be anti-aliased to hide the outside edge aliasing caused by the ML Bevel Reflect plug-in.

The font is called Cairo

Sometimes, even with the additional "Text Stroke", you might need to increase the smoothing factor in the BR Logo script. I increased it to 3 and it came out nice. I think I'll add that step to the tip.

You can also increase the shrink amount from 2 to 3 when creating the "Text Stroke" (per the tip), if needed. I didn't need to do that here. In this example, a shrink value of 2 was enough.

That one looks like it has really smooth edges, Molly. It's kinda difficult to tell on that background, though. It looks really good!

The only difference between mine and yours is the font and the emap. I'm using the blue-plastic-map I posted to the emap sharing thread, which gives really smooth results. The right map can make all the difference in the final result. :hehe

maybe we should delete some of them, I have been kind of saving them up. it is frustrating. I will post it again without the background to get a better look.

I think yours looks good. The emap is a little light and the Text stroke is not blended too well, but overall, it looks good. I only keep the emaps that look really good and toss the rest.

Remember, the BR Logo script randomizes emap based on the gradient, so each time you run with a selected gradient, you'll get a variation on the emap, with some being good and some not so good. Of course, if you load an external map, it will use that and it doesn't change. You have to clear it by hitting reset to get it back to generating emap variations, based on the selected gradient.

Save the good ones and toss the bad ones. :hehe

ok, thanks, I have a problem knowing which sliders to use in the hue saturation to blend in the outline with the rest. One of these days, maybe in this century I might get it perfect.

That can be tricky. Your outline is a solid color and the logo's colors car vary, so it might not be exact.
