@ Pat
a general note on the use of the filter (this one as any other):
- when changing the source image, perform the "Filter/Reset all filters" function before running it, otherwise it executes with the last parameters.
In other words: first try the filter using its default (reset does this), then -if outcome is unsatisfactory- experiment a change in one or two parameters, depending on the "defect" you noticed

just a note on my attempts: I never changed the default patterns and gradient, these can also be changed, but normally only once you got an acceptable result

thanks for testing the filter

Dinasset & Issabella - like Pat I have tried out this potentially terrific script. Also like Pat my photo images were not too good at all but I did get some wonderful metallic borders :)

I think there must be some simple guidelines for selecting an image to process. My attempts today were with photos taken inside a war memorial and they were probably not well colour differentiated in the first place. I will try again tomorrow.

@ OMG
to you and all who try the filter having bad results: please post examples of the sources used; sometimes there is nothing to do (the image is not very well suitable for this filter) but in other cases something may be tried on the parameter defaults: those three posted by Pat and processed by myself don't look too bad -IMO- after some change in the parameters

I agree with you Dinasset, not all kind of photos are the best to this filter, but we can always change layer modes or parameters. Anyway I find this filter very nice to use and transform the image in some different way with a new-fangled touch. :coolthup :bigthup

I attach Dinasset's Glasstic_8 pat without red line, if like you can replace it. :)
About pictures, as Dinasset told me once, better to choose the ones without too many details, as then they turn to be a complicated conjunction of wires.

If its stained glass, shouldn't it be brighter than that?

Maybe try playing around with the curves a little?

sometimes yes, sometimes not.
This one is a real stained glass.

Outcomes of my filter are poor attempts of imitatation.

I think the filter is a very good idea. Is there some way to keep the original picture intact-no blurring or darkening of the picture and colors, and have the lead lines placed over the picture like the real stain glass look. With the filter, some have too numerous lead lines. Almost looks like what is done to crystallize. That would really be nice.

thanks for your suggestions, Pat.
This filter -as it is currently conceived- needs blurring to simplify.
Maybe a future filter on the same area.
As French say : l'enfer est pavé de bonnes intentions

also, do not forget to download the "cartoonizer" filter for which I posted a link in the first post of the first page here (in case you do not have it already): choose the version you need from there: 32bits or 64bits
