Hi!
I haven't been here in so long! There's certainly no stopping creativity in this place! That's for sure!
Is there a script or plug-in out that can do pressed text? See the link for a Google Image search.
Google Image search of Pressed TextI've had a need to use this effect more than a few times and gets to be a slight burden. Anything to make life .. more efficient is good! You thought i was going to say easier! =)
Hope you can help!
And as always thanks for the help!

Very nice effects... couldn't this be done by using the map > bump map, then inverting to the depth you prefer?

I found these 2 tutorials on the subject. Take a look at them and see if they can be of some help to you. I think the first tutorial link might be able to be made into a script, but don't quote me on that.

Very effective Wallace, I liked them both but the bottom was much easier to follow. Top one was too fast and I missed half of it.

Sallyanne, yours is very good.

By the way the 'carved logo' can be found at file>create>logos>carved. It is almost like a script since there is not much effort on the users part.

You right about the video being hard to follow at times. Handy YouTube shortcuts; spacebar to pause/play and forward or back to 10% to 90% of video, number keys 1 to 9.

Thanks Odin, I didn't know that. I must go look at it again. Cool

What I mean is that when your use "file>create>logos>carved", it is not "almost like a script", it
is a script (that comes with the rest of Gimp).

Yeah you're right about the first tutorial. "Tutor4U" is a really good Gimp tutorial maker that's very easy to follow.

First video I felt gave better results. The fellow got a little fuzzy once he started shifting the selection around. I've seen this tut before. What you never see is pressed in text on a light background using a darker text.

I know about this tut. But its falls very short on options.
I'm just surprised there's no automation for this type of effect as common as it is.

You can get this effect pretty easy by using
GC Shadow to create 2 shadows. Keeping shadows on top, create a black (or dark) inner shadow, then a white (or light) thinner drop shadow.
