New filter using Gimp&Gmic: WATERCOLOUR thru ANGUISH

Tue Feb 25, 2020 9:59 am

Another "surprise" in walking thru G'mic filters was "seeing" an effect close to that of a watercolour painting using Anguish.
Working on this, I developed a filter which tries to do the transformation of a photo into an aquarelle.
Here the filter:
DIEGO_ARTISTIC_WatercolourThruAnguish2.7z
(2.83 KiB) Downloaded 358 times

Here the pattern set:
AquarelR.7z
(182.67 KiB) Downloaded 192 times

Usage:

the user has three different ways to personalise the outcome:
1-altering the default values of iterations (from 1 to 3) and/or sigma2 (from 1 to 5); these are parameters of Anguish
2-selecting a different aquarelle pattern for preparing the BG (you may choose among those provided in the set)
3-modifying the MODE and/or the OPACITY on the top visible layer (default LINEAR_LIGHT and 10)

Warning: if you use (or ask to produce) a big image, it could take quite a lot of time

I am so excited to see such beautiful results with this new filter. The results are amazing and I love the possibility you provide to get personal effects according to the users. Thank you so much for this new one to enjoy it.

All very nice, Issabella, particularly the fisherman-4305368 came out wonderful.

Did 2 variation tests on my "Lenna", not going for shockingly dramatic outcomes yet.
Like this filter quite much, sometimes the dissolve effect is apparent so I tried to hide it with layer mode changes.
