That is correct, they are just small-ish jpeg files, add to your main image, scale to size, use as a mask or maybe an overlay (and colorize it)

@Mackenzieh.
Rich2005 proposed a technique of use using two scripts and manual editing (individualization of the frame).
Border also uses masks (but I didn't compare the code details) and you can use it with a very comparable quality effect.
The location of the downloaded files depends on what you use:
1. When border.exe (~67 Mb) you add files (in a subdirectory) to rip-border.
2. for Beautify texture & border.exe (~ 0.4 Mb) you add files (in the subdirectory) to Beautify Texture & Border.
They work side by side so you can add to both.

MareroQ, I added HarrysEdges and edgemasks to simple border and texture border in my plugins folder for beautify but when I call up beautify, the options are not there.
Here they are in the folders:

Here's what I get when I call up gimp:

What did I do wrong?

You chose wrong directory (you must have another one - because it works)

I changed directories.

Changing the directories, worked.

Interesting that when I tried doing this, any border that displays shows up as my selected pattern within GIMP. Insane and weird!

Try switching directories and then restarting gimp. It should work. The only border that fails in beautify is simple border which I find really sad. The extra borders only work in rip-border and texture-border.

I'm beginning to think there is a problem with the 64 bit version.

The 64 bit version Beautify for me.. just not the simple border option.

Yes. I managed to resolve the images/masks problem, so it was simple border that wasn't working. Shame, however, borders are EASY PEASY to use independently.

I agree, they are easy to use on their own. The simple-border.exe file fails right out of the gate.. if I knew how to fix it I would but my windows defender popped up saying the file could harm my computer.

Rich did drop another version of Beautify in his Dropbox account that has Simple Borders working. Post #167. I'm just looking for a plugin (like this one) to apply any of the 3,000 masks in my inventory to a photo, so I can whittle them down to small number (less than 50) that I will use. I need to free up space on my HD.

I'll try it out. I tried it out and the textures work. I also kept Beautify, rip-border, and Skin Whitening as well.
The new beautify is now here:

Also some of the simple borders are too faint or they just don't work.

Yep. I get it. I've reserved myself to manually checking the image border/frames. Beautify works great for masks.

While no one was interested in the mini version (the Rip Border equivalent with no built-in textures) for Linux - it's attached here.
In the menu: Filters/Decor/Beautify Texture & Border ...

Works ok on older setup kubuntu 18.04 / Gimp 2.10.14

With the Beautify plugin, I have noticed that when you use it, it doesn't cover the entire image.
Why is that? I am using the latest version of gimp and I have windows 64 bit.
Here's an example:
