Are you sure you selected the text layer and not the bg layer?
Mon Aug 27, 2012 6:05 pm

crayon-text-gimp-2.6v2.5.scm
Create a new document
Make a new transparent layer
Create your text or shape on the new transparent layer
Select the new text or shape layer and run the script (no alpha to selection is needed)
Script-Fu>Text Effects>Crayon-Text
The script dialog will allow 2 values from user input.
Select a color
Select a messiness setting - less = neater text (values are 1-5)
Let me know if the script has any more problems.I tested it on Gimp-2.6.12 Portable on Wine and it seems to work fine.

Very nice Rod, thank you.

Thank you Molly.
It doesn't look very good on a black bg.
Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:43 pm
Funny, that is strange. I like it on a black back ground.
Wed Aug 29, 2012 1:06 pm
molly, i was thinking the same - i really loved the effect of the crayon text on black.

thank you AnMal. I tried it with white but the Red text looked better on the black cuz I wanted the red shadow. Anyway, we all like different things and thats what makes the world go around. I agree that a pastel text would looked better on white, maybe.

Nice script, Rod. It also makes me think of chalk. I made the messiness 5.

That chalkboard looks excellent!
I grabbed the font, thanks for the link

That chalk board does look good. I grabbed the font too.

this is easy to use! It didn't work with the background layer still in the stack. Even though I had the text layer selected, it still worked on the background...so I deleted the background so the text layer was the only layer, ran the script (messy 5) and then added the background...that worked just fine.
Wed Aug 29, 2012 3:33 pm
Ah, thanks 2-ton, I'll give that a go.
Wed Aug 29, 2012 3:42 pm
Thanks! One of the nice things about the script is that the same characters are not totally identical to each other. The messiness takes care of that.
Wed Aug 29, 2012 3:59 pm
This is what I got with the latest version.
Wed Aug 29, 2012 6:13 pm
The previous version works as 2-Ton said. You have to delete the background first. You then have to duplicate the layer a number of times to make the crayon opaque before adding a background.

looks like fuzzy slippers material or chenille. woot
