Hi Mackenzieh.

According to me your problem is too many plugins registered on the main menu.
You should change the location of submenu (from "Addons" to "islamic-pattern11").

Nothing is in "Addons" and if you look at the images in post 12, "islamic-pattern11 and Islamic Designs both register on the main menu. I am not a coder, so I wouldn't know where to begin in changing the location.

Hi there,
This is my first attempt of creating such a design in Gimp by using Path tool along with Mr. Ofnuts Path Tools. I drew a Circle, a Rectangle, a Hexagon and last but not least Spokes with the help of Ofnuts script. Definitely with these tools drawing with path is much easier. But the terminology in the Ofnuts Path Tool dialogue is not only difficult but also discouraging to some extent. But once learnt they are wonderful to use.

Gimp scripts for such designs also miss the ability to add edge to the final design.

Rashid - well done, but I think you will find that each of these are suppoosed to be symetrical and are geared to creating 'seamless' images (patterns); it is also not difficult to create an edge if you need one. :)

Here is a quick example of the seamless approach -

Hi There
While searching geometric designs I came across a window pattern from some Winchester Castle Window. I tried to make it in Gimp especially using some Mr. Ofnuts path tools. But I was unable to create perfect one due to alignment of circles. Problem is shown in the image.

Despite this hurdle in the initial phase I continued the design with slight help from axonometric graph and completed it with some modification.
Gimp Gurus can throw some light on it. Is it my in-ability or some problem in Gimp at the highest zoom level?

Hi,

By using 'Ofnuts path tools' I was able to create these shapes with the help of a tutorial which was for some Vector Programme.
These are some basic shapes. I was not able to find the terminology for these basic shapes so these have been classified by their geometric nature.

Thank you guys. :)

Using the same initial designs I then symmetrized it.

Hi There,

Square is better than circular one due to its perspective. I was not able to understand the stitch work on the circular one. Details and design is easy to understand on the square one.
Good work.

Thank you for your comments.
What I did with the round one was mapped it to a 'plane' and then rotated it to look not quite lying down. (On a hill maybe?) The square one is just flat on the screen which is not quite realistic. I can post the flat round one if you like ;)
