Tim's "Paint Paths In Steps" plugin is one of my all-time favourites. https://gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php?p=26844#p26844

I really think this one is exceptionally good, right up there with Tux's BRL. Anyway, just having some fun....

Very well done. I wonder what else the 'Paint Paths In Steps' plugin could be used for?
The background is close to Gimp Chat's background (fafafa).

Just looking at it, makes me want to try it out. However after reading the instructions, it looks complicated to use.

It's not complicated.
You need a path, the pen/hand/pointer layer and a background layer (picture, color, transparent) for the brush to work on.

Place the hand/pen layer in correct position, to the beginning of the path.
Use the "transition hand into whiteboard at start + transition hand out of whiteboard at end" if you want it to appear outside the image.
Or have the path beginning outside of your canvas, suits better for some animations.
Make sure you have the background layer active before running the plug-in.

That's it.
I recommend SaulGoode's old Combine/Overlay script and Tim's another plug-in Rename Layers for basic work afterwards.
Example, if you brush on transparent layer and want to make more complex background compositions, changing speed etc.

You can download the version 5 sample from GL to see how it works.

I've seen how it works and now there are 8 versions.

You pick the latest version 8 of course.
I suggested to download the sample file, so that you can see how the layers and paths are organized before running the plug-in.
