EDIT 13 August UPDATE I included other 4 filter here download/file.php?id=6028 note that the zip contain all the expression (=filters) not only the additional one -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The attached zip contains extra mathmap expressions not included in the default installation. Extract the zip file to the mathmap expressions folder. ![]() PS Hopefully more filters will come, in case they are posted as text in messages here how to install them HOW TO COPY - PASTE, TEST, CORRECT IF NEEDED,AND SAVE A MM script 1 ) select and copy the text of the filter 2) open gimp, open also a image, any you wish, and open mathmap from Filters/Generic/Mathmap/ mathmap note mathmap/mathmap don't use any other submenu (i would suggest to never use the other mathmap submenu, they offer no advantages respect to the main one but give severe limitations ) now in mathmap click the expression tab, to open it...you will see some text in just ...delete it 3) paste ![]() ![]() TEST testing is useful also because in case of error in the editor tabthe line where is the error would get highlighted : Most commune error from copy and paste a lost "#" before the comment line (that are those plain English , usually in the beginning ) ...or "end" at the very end SAVE well if the filter doesn't give error, or you fixed now you may just use the SAVE AS button Don't use "Save" (except if you want intentionally overwrite some filter ), only "Save As " well.... its' all folks ![]()

Very nice start PC. I think it is a great idea to get all these plug-ins together in one place so people won't have to go looking all over the net for them. |

Thanks PC. To avoid confusion, I cleaned up this thread and deleted the expressions that are already included in the default mathmap installation. The attached zip file contains only the extra expressions not already included in mathmap. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the same expression .mm & .mmc files used in both Windows and Linux? |

Thank you very much PhotoComix In Kubuntu (GNU/Linux) I created a folder "mathmap" in my "/home/USER/.gimp-2.8/" and I extracted mathmap-extras.zip there. The new filters do not appear in the MathMap main menu, but they are available in MathMap dialog in "Filters" tab. This should be that way? By the way, the filter "Peel Animation.mm" seems to be already included by default in MathMap (at least in my version from git 20120621) Thanks! |

Post subject: | Re: Mathmap Extra Expressions |
you should put the folder inside your mathmap expression folder that as default should be inside your gimp user folder yes peel animation should be a clone slipped in |

Quote: The new filters do not appear in the MathMap main menu, but they are available in MathMap dialog in "Filters" tab. This should be that way? No but it is a advantage, calling MM from that submenu would only open a limited interface, the only giving access to the full interface is mathmap/mathmap that if i understand well is the only option you got..the other would just overcrowd the menu without much reason i honestly don't know why sometimes all submenu appear and sometimes not (it is the same on Windows ) but that menu add just confusion and are of not pratical use |

Hi, i'm new to Mathmap, i've installed all expressions, examined which ones could be useful for me, then removed from the expressions folder (user\.gimp-2.8\mathmap\expressions) those i guess not to use; when i launch gimp i found under filters\generic\mathmap\ all the sub-menus with all the entries, even those removed, while if i use the sub-menu mathmap itself - as you suggest - everything is OK : i found only those expressions names i've selected. What is the reason to continue having the full list? should something be removed from somewhere else? Many thanks (and thanks for the extra-expressions!) |

Did you re-boot your pc. Sometimes I have to do that to clear things that I have deleted. If that doesn't work, I am sure someone will come along with the answer you want. Welcome to Gimp Chat. |

I suppose the extra menu items are gone now Anyway i suggest you to avoid to call MM from submenu EXCEPT mathmap/mathmap (is at the very bottom ) because is the only that allow to access to the full interface and at any filter you wish |

Yes Pc you are probably right. Here is a screen of it. This is the way I go into MM too. ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: Mathmap Extra Expressions |
yes that scrolling all down If you start MM from there you may confront different filters , and access to tabs and option that are not available in other way in other word as example you may click Mathmap/mathmap then chose in the filter list Distort/Sphere if you not happy try Map/sphere and Map/sphere with reflex or what else Instead if you call Mathmap/map/sphere from the menu you may use only that ,or quit and are other "advanced" option not available, basically no advantages to use that other submenu calls seem there just to confuse |

Thanks to everybody. To Molly: yes, i did restart my PC: unwanted sub-menus and entries were and are still there (obviously unusable, because if you call one of those the expression is not in). To PC: yes, i will use always the last entry, both because it's more flexible and because there are only my selected expressions listed. But...my curiosity is still there: from where does gimp (and/or mathmap) take the unavailable entries? |

Post subject: | Re: Mathmap Extra Expressions |
I think if you have deleted those entries from your user folder, then they are no longer available for call up from MM. |

Post subject: | Re: Mathmap Extra Expressions |
Hi Molly, i know the deleted entries are no more available for call up (i wrote that in my previous msg), but: do you have an idea why they still show up? if you have my environment (win 7 32 bits) you may try by yourself: take a complete sub-menu out from the expressions folder, for instance "colors", then restart gimp and you will still see "colors" in the sub-menus list of generic\mathmap... |

Post subject: | Re: Mathmap Extra Expressions |
Post Scriptum : GOOD NEWS! Molly, i found the solution: i deleted the "pluginrc" file from my .gimp-2.8 folder and now i see only my selected entries! Maybe this info can be useful for somebody else who adjust plugin list of possibilities... |
