Thanks for suggesting iWarp be an option. I wouldn't have thought of that. The post processing alone makes it a worthy addition. Let me know if you can think of anything else to add.

I just finished adding an extrusion feature to V2.0. :yes

Here 's the version with Extrusion added. I had to clean up the code and test it a bit before posting.

Under Misc Effects, you can select to extrude the Fill or Bump layers. Effect Depth sets the extrusion depth and Effect Direction sets the rotational direction in degrees (mapped to 8 discrete directions). I'm thinking that I could also include wide & narrow extrude, which would extrude, while re-sizing. I'm gonna test that to see what kind of results I might get.

I'm pretty much out of room on my screen to add any more input dialogs. Are you able to see everything on the screen?

Kungfu07,

The only thing you are missing there is the Global Feather dialog (and the buttons). Up until now, I've kept the Feather value hidden but I put in there because there might be few instances in which you would want to change it (I might just remove it).

Other than that, you can simply place the cursor on any dialog and hit ENTER to run the Script when calling it from the File/Create Screen.

Actually, you can run the script once from the File/Create Screen, then press Ctrl-z and it will undo everything except the text. You can then run the Script from Filters/Alpha to Logo/Logo Toolbox using that same text. That approach is better because you can undo with Ctrl-z, hit Shft-Ctrl-f, make a change then Ctrl-f to run the script again.

Can you see all the options when using Filters/Alpha-to-logo/Logo Toolbox?

@Tux, How do you bump up your backgrounds like the one above. I try it and it never bumps.

You mean the background?

I just use the lighting filter and select the image itself as the bump map. I set the bump curve, the depth to 1, then tweak the distance and other lighting parameters until I get the desired result.

After I get a result I like, I'll sometimes create a seamless pattern from it, so I'll have it for future use. That's what I did on the one above.

For the next release, I've removed the Global feather on the Create Screen but I left it on the Filters/Alpha to Logo screen, in case it was needed. That should help matters on the File/Create Screen.

Thanks for letting me know and testing this script, KungFu07. :bigthup

Rod, I see that you mapped the pattern to the extruded edges. I should probably make that an option in the script, in addition to the pure extrusion. I filled a new layer with the pattern and mapped it using layer modes. Did you use the same technique or did you use a better/alternate method?

Image

I also tried dual extrusion in opposite directions. I'm not sure what to make of the results. It produces a pretty cool effect for some letters. What do you think? :cool

I like much the first :clap , and i think that a option for a similar effect would be cool :coolthup
Honestly much less convinced of the second also because the effect somehow give me the sensation of something wrong in the prospective ...i can't define clearly what wrong and where anyway without doubts i prefer the first

Exactly what i did Tux. I used another layer of the pattern utilizing layer modes.
I also made the stroke opacity real low. I didn't blur it though.
The second dual extrusion effect is pretty wild and i could think of some uses for it. :)
@ Kungfu07 - I used GIMP-2.7.4 RGGJAN version and that is why the text isn't there.
