What!?

I'm getting more and more confused about how to install this plugin.

This is what I did...

I renamed the plugins folder Astronomy and placed it in to my user plugins folder. Then created a link in preferences that points to this new folder. Is this right?
Image

All I find is this below.
Image

Why do I have to do all this and still it's not showing?
When I use the plugin browser, there is nothing under astronomy to be found.

Did I install this correctly?
How did you make that image?

Wallace what I did was:

1. place the scripts in here: Program Files>GIMP 2>share>gimp>2.0>scripts
2. place the plugins in here: Users>Mackenzie>.gimp-2.8>plug-ins>plug-ins> (new folder)
3. Start gimp and go to preferences, scroll to plugins, then add the new folder:
C:/Users/Mackenzie/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins/plug-ins/Astronomy

Refresh gimp and you should see the plug in here: Filters/Astronomy

I think it works on 32 bit as well as windows 64 bit Sallyanne.

Thanx. I will have a look. Just got confused when GT said he would compile it for Linux? 32

I agree. Maybe there is more to come from that plug-in's author. The Starry Sky script does a pretty dang good job of creating star fields and it has some versatility too. It can be easily enhanced, as well.

I did all that...

Made a folder inside my plug-ins folder, named it plug-ins. Inside this new folder I placed the folder Astronomy with all the plug-ins and dll's.
Then created the link in preferences...

This is what I still see in, Filter>Astronomy. Just the scripts.

What's up, why is this doing this and why does it have to be installed this way and still nothing?
What am I doing wrong?
What should I see when I go to, Filter>Astronomy?
Shouldn't I see the plugins as well as the scripts?

I must say, that this is the worst plug-in installation experienced I have ever had to date, in all my time with Gimp. And still it's not working for me.

When you load gimp you should see 12 options under filters/astronomy.

I've already posted a screenshot of what I see in Filters>Astronomy. There are only 6 options to chose from and they are all scripts, no plug-ins.

I don't understand why this is being so difficult to install.

I had gimp closed when I installed the plugin. I had to open it to put the path in preferences. It wasn't until I closed gimp and opened it again that I saw everything.
I'm guessing you have already tried this Wallace?

I only dropped the files from the plugins folder in the zip into my plug ins folder for gimp, same with the scripts, then opened gimp and all the things were there. I didn't have to direct it to a path or make a folder.

I tried that and that failed. However the directing it to a path and making the folder worked for me.

Thanks for all the screenshots, but that is how I have it set up.
All the plug-ins and dll files in the Astronomy folder, inside the new plug-ins folder, which is inside the Gimp plug-ins folder.
All the scripts are in, C:\Program Files\Gimp-2.8\share\gimp\2.0\scripts, but the plug-ins don't show in Filters>Astronomy. Only the scripts show.
I've also setup a link to the new folder in Preferences, C:\Users\Geo\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\plug-ins\Astronomy.

:gaah

That is how I first did it, but I got only the scripts no plug-ins. Still I don't get the plug-ins only the scripts.

I've done it both ways and still the plug-ins do not show up.

Almost addictive.

I feel for you Wallace. It must be especially hard when you can do almost everything? else.

I can't get the Bevel Reflect on pictures to work properly for me :( I think I need a tutorial
