Has anyone tested the script against David Woods tutorial on YouTube?

I tried out David's tutorial, which is very good BTW and this is the lens flare I ended up with. It took about 20 minutes or so to created this flare using David's tut.
Image

This lens flare was made using the GC Lens-Flare script. In just a few minutes I was able to create this lens flare. I couldn't seem to create the "wedge" like shape as seen it the David Woods flare, but it does look pretty good. Given the very short time it took and only slightly adjusting the setting, then clicking Ok.
So it's definitely a time saver, one would also need to figure out which setting they prefer and somehow save them.

Overall, both flares look really great. They are different styles of flares, but both could work for me. I really like the time saving aspect of the script. Making them from scratch does take time and also a little Gimp know-how.

My flare was created differently without this tutorial in mind so of course it's a little different

I just have to say though, in reality no 2 flares are alike. That's the biggest drawback of the Gimp stock lens flare, It's always the same colors/shapes. I really like Graechan's script for it's adjust-ability.

Thank you Charlie, I did not create it with that tutorial in mind but with my own ideas on how to make a universal Lens Flare

nice systemx. I tried to make a curved one and it came out a straight line. I used the pen tool and made a curve, then ran the script, then tried it again by sending it to path, and I still ended with a horizontal one.

:) Molly I tinkered with curve bend and rotate, it can get messy.

Wallace except for reflection and refraction light does not bend or change direction as shown on his whiteboard
The gravitational fields theory is just that (theory), and as he stated "for all intense and purposes light travels in straight lines"

So there are exceptions. I just wanted to make that point. Who know how light behaves in other universes, we can only assume.

Couldn't a light also appear to be bent due to lens distortion?

Which brings me back to my original statement to Molly

The script works fine. After some tests the path is very useful for asymetric compositions.
Thank you Graechan for that nice work. :tyspin

Nicely done graechan. Can you edit the script to allow to keep the path so you can re do the filter?

Image

I suppose you could just duplicate the lens flare layer also. :)

Not necessarily so Graechan.
www.youtube.com Video from : www.youtube.com

Very good information Wallace.
In my initial question, I asked why can I not make the light go the same angle I made the path, the answer I got is that light travels in straight lines.
For now, all I want to know is why doesn't the script follow the path I made? If it doesn't, then there is no need to make a path... or is this just another stupid question?
