I agree with Oregonian
Because stars are not pulsing that way it's better to have many true stars fixed and run the script to create few additional blinking stars.
Even better (in case of using the script for showing stars, but it seems to be the most common use), if the script were able to provide small stars pulsing in such a way to simulate the "shivering" of the stars (maybe it does it already, not yet tested)

Edit: downloaded and tried.
Yes, by choosing only a lot of small size sparkles and a few medium, 10 layers, then setting the animation to the maximum (8*72), the "pulsing" resembles already the "shivering" of the stars.
OK

Is the script still in beta phase?

I made an image with the script by merging the layers, then ran the script again so there would be a combo of fixed and pulsing stars.

I think there needs to be a pulse option. There are instances where one might need all the stars pulsing at the same time or perhaps 50% brightening, while 50% dimming. As it stands now, it's all random.

Oregonian posted a good example of this in the Bling Text Logo thread.

Image

Here I ran the Starry Skies script, then the sparkle animation script, with 75 small, 10 medium stars and 10 frames.

Nice example, GnuTux with the starry sky script and the pulsing stars. I like the fixed plus pulsing stars together.

The pulse generator in the script may have to have an adjustment added to it, I'll attempt to add that
Default Minval 0 on all Sizes
Image

Minval 50 on all Sizes
Image

Minval 100 on all Sizes

Molly I'm glad you like the new update GnuTux had foreseen the need for the 'Minimal Pulse Value' setting and included it in his Sparkler engine

Try another downloading and reloading a fresh copy of the script, then try a new selection before running script

I don't have an example this time, but it now works after downloading and reinstalling a "fresh" copy of the script.
What did you do?
