Do you have Wireshark program installed? See Nidhogg's post.

dinasset:I don't know "Wireshark program."

I reopened gimp and did 5 tests with different parameters from the same source image to compare the changes and no problem.
I had my 5 visible outcomes above the canvas and I wanted to look at one of them, so I clicked on it and crashed! Gimp closed and this message:

Image

I then clicked on "copy bug information" and pasted the text into notepad. (if someone can decode it ...)
Then I clicked on "restart Gimp" and it recovered me (as it did in the first crash) some images which seem to be intermediate images made during the process and one which is a mixture of the 2 chosen textures .

I stop for tonight ...

Have a look also here:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18065&start=0

In any case the last crash you had is not totally new for me: I had similar ones with another plug-in when using Samj's 2.10.14 (now I use 2.10.18). Something about memory? I don't know, but restarting was always solving the problem.

(I did never restore the lost images...)

Thank you dinasset for exposing my problem.
I don't think it's memory, (8 GB)

Thanks for sharing your tests, Ella.
I like "eekhoorn".
I do not like "woman" (sorry), is this your only attempt to get a reasonable outcome with a portrait? Portraits, especially feminine portraits, are a difficult subject for this filter, only "provando e riprovando" (Galileo, Accademia del Cimento) one can get an acceptable result.

Post subject:  Re: New from a previous tut: AQUARELLE PLUS

Diego, it's okay you don't like "woman." I didn't like it myself.
Haven't had much time to test the filter yet.
"Provando e riprovando" is for later :)

Ella, when you'll have the time for performing more tests, I suggest to use the "light" look for people, it could help.

Samples to show to Ella and any other one interested in using Aquarelle Plus on portraits the effect of using "light" in the look parameter.

Also the number of colours, as you have already seen on last two samples, can influence the outcome

But the most important is always the "light" option.

All very nice, Ella. Thanks for sharing them.
I like particularly the boat.
If you didn't like your attempts on portraits, this means that you don't like mine too, I didn't use special source images, just found them on internet (Deviant Art, mainly).
Nor did apply special effect afterwards.
But that's normal, I remember you do not like manipulations on portraits, even in the past. In fact I was surprised by the outcome of the woman you posted previously.

Post subject:  Re: New from a previous tut: AQUARELLE PLUS

Thank you for your comment, Diego.
You're right, I very rarely use portraits to manipulate.
The reason I tried it was because you do it a lot and I wanted to give it a chance.
But the outcome is almost never to my taste, which is why I prefer to use other photo's instead.

Ciao Ella,

provando e riprovando I got tonight these outcomes, using the same sources as my last posts.
Maybe (just maybe) I can deserve a vote of 6-- (out of 10) by you.
Who knows...
