GEGL Bevel (filter of its own but now ships with GEGL Effects)

You should be more specific when saying that, people will literally remove EVERYTHING even the one installed by GIMP

In this GEGL folder, you did have few GEGL filters installed by GIMP itself (nothing to do with contrast_'s GEGL) something like 5-8 GEGL filters (maybe, if I recall), did you removed ALL of them?

mine was not (on Linux/ PPA / Ubuntu), I'll check tomorrow at the office (windows7 they have)

gegl bevel had an update and it can now do this using Gimp layer blend modes.

Please over ride or remove older versions of gegl:bevel in the plug-ins folder.
Any plugin that uses gegl:bevel will continue to work regardless of what version you have.
But Gimp will default to using the older version. That is why old versions need to be removed.

Binary location

Windows C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\gegl-0.4\plug-ins

or C:\Users\AppData\Local\gegl-0.4\plug-ins

*you may need to create the "plug-ins" folder if it doesn't exist.

Bevel has now been renamed from gegl:bevel to lb:bevel incase the custom Bevel that was accepted in Gimp 3 is named gegl:bevel. Which it likely will according to Pippin.

This breaks all presets for gegl:bevel but not GEGL Effects CE. The same goes for inner glow which is being renamed lb:innerglow.

lb stands for LinuxBeaver obviously.

You can update bevel and inner glow by going to here (binaries provided)

Other lesser known filters that use my bevel also have been updated and will only work with lb:bevel; they will break if used with gegl:bevel. so update here (binaries provided)

GEGL Bevel is getting new modes, NOT to be confused with plugins "Edge Only Bevel" and "Ringed Bevel" in development. Said plugins will be stand alones and not part of GEGL Bevel.

Due to new stragegies I discovered, plugins no longer break presets or GEGL Effects under specific cases. This is one of them. So now you can test the update without worrying about presets breaking or GEGL Effects breaking. If you are using a version of GEGL Effects July 2023 and up you will be fine. If not GEGL Effects will break and lose its bevel ability, if that happens you can solve it just by updating to the latest version of GEGL Effects.

Here is the source code. Compile and go to GEGL operations > lb:bevel or Filters>Text Styling>Bevel on Gimp 2.99.16+

* the last post on the page below discusses new modes for GEGL bevel and the source code download that is not yet on Github as binaries and code together. Please check it before reading this.

Here is another mode I have planned for GEGL Bevel that I have not yet implemented.

You can use this by putting the syntax in GEGL Graph and selecting the "multiply blend mode" it does NOT ship with the wood texture (or need it)

GEGL Bevel updated. Every plugin on Github that uses GEGL Bevel has the latest version and two new modes.

btw, if the update didn't work its because you have multiple copies of bevel.dll or bevel.so when you should only have one. Or you put the binary in the wrong directory, or didn't restart Gimp.
