I attached mine its small and already includes the preview file. :)
Just unzip to the GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0 folder Graechan. :bigthup

Let me know if it works.

So you have the vector-path python file in gimp-2.8\plug-ins folder
and the preview file in both python directories?

Look in your pygimp.interp file and tell me if it has this
python=C:\Program Files\Gimp 2\python\pythonw.exe
/usr/bin/python=C:\Program Files\Gimp 2\python\pythonw.exe
:Python:E::py::python:

It should look exactly like above to work. :)

My file is the same

python=C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\Python\pythonw.exe
/usr/bin/python=C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\Python\pythonw.exe
:Python:E::py::python:

and the location of my files is

A real dilema

Try placing/moving the vector path python file from the /.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\python folder to just the plug-ins folder once.

Does the vector path dialog pop up when you click on Filters>Bytes and Pixels>Vector Path?
Because you really do not need the preview panel.It's just there to preview the path you create.The plugin will work by just putting the values in x and y and the other settings.
Of course you need to know your math for this. As you won't be able to view the results.

This is so weird that it doesn't work for you.
I placed my preview file in both my
gimp-2.8\python folder AND my
gimp-2.8\lib\gimp\2.0\python folder THEN
I placed the vector path.py file in my .gimp-2.8\plug-ins folder and it works for me in Windows XP.
I am stumped Graechan sorry.

All i can suggest now is to uninstall gimp-2.8 and install Parthas newest install version.
It works for everything on my machine.

The answer to the puzzle was in your last post win XP I'm using 64bit gimp python 2.7.2, when I placed in any 32bit gimp it worked a charm
Thank you for sticking with me

You would do the same for me Graechan. :)
I am very happy you got it working.

Any new formulas you want to share?

@Graechan: You gotta type it in manually, lol. ;)

I am no mathematician myself but there is a pattern. You will figure it, just stick with it for awhile...
Something like this:
Formula consists of chunks like
+(sin((i+2)*0.2)*100)

where + or minus is a basic operator
sin or cos are wave thingies
i is an iterator which can be offset by adding/subtracting a number
next (0.2) is the frequency
next (100) is amplitude

This is probably a totally incorrect interpretation, but that's how I see it.

As you see in the X axis formula, there is a constant progression (because I want my curve to extend along X axis) before the wave chunks:
(i*0.8)*5

or similar

Y axis is offset to start in the middle of an image and not at the top corner (image is 300px tall):
150+

I am also currently working on a presets feature for Formula viewer, with that you'll be able to Save/Load/Delete presets.

You know this reminds me of those settings in the twist plugin...sort of. :lol
Figure the math out for this and you know how twist works! heheheh
I figured out X and Y in a quick hurry.
It is pretty easy to figure it out by changing a few values here and there.

Is it possible to use "/" and "-" operators also? (divide and subtract)

An awesome addition to Gimp-2.8 and i thank you for it. I am a fan of all your plugins really. :)

I find the fomula-viewer difficult to use as it does not allow you to paste formulas like it says at bottom, so i get the same sine wave. So i will read some more today

Thanks Rod. Yes you can use division and subtraction. The whole python math module is available, so you probably can use a lot of things like square root etc. if you know how.

@Graechan:
Not sure what you mean - I can copy/paste from/to both - Formula viewer and plug-in dialog.

I can type the new entry into the formula viewer but there is no paste function e.g when you right click with mouse nothing happens, so it is easier to paste new path to the plugin and wiew the result in paths dialogue.

Oh, right click menu... I haven't used it in ages! Yeah, ctrl+C ctrl+V, hit enter in Formula Viewer to update curve, gets slow at around 200 points, but default 100 works alright.

I guess it's a matter of preference, Graechan, basically if you don't like it you don't have to use it. Personally I find it very useful, it is too cumbersome for me to keep on generating paths in Gimp to see the results.

You can delete or rename formula_viewer.pyw so it doesn't popup. Plugin will work without it.
