Thanks Rod I hoped the script would be as close to actual rusted metal as possible

Hi Graechan,
as usual I tried your alpha-to-logo with a text on top of my Angel III.
If I call it immediately after having entered the text, the image is scaled to the text layer (not nice...)
If I use layer to image size (after having entered the text) I get also the image embossed etc., so I have to "keep the layers" and remove the top layer ("visible") in order to have just the text rusted.
Is it possible to introduce modifications similar to those introduced into Smokin so I can just rust the text as soon as entered?
Also: did you read my comments/request on Inlayed?
Should I ...bother you with my comments, just tell it to me...and I will use your excellent scripts for the "logo" option only...always spectacular!

Thank you everyone for supporting this script, but it was one that I had done some time ago and it had some bugs that were inherent to the way I wrote scripts at the time luckily they were pointed out by Dinneset, so I hope I have fixed them all in release 4 now attached to the initial post

I think the rust does not distribute enough. In this image the tops of the letters and the top of the star have no rust at all. The rust setting was set at its highest. This is v4.

I agree. We're gonna keep you plugging away Graechan. It's such a cool script :hehe

Bbbbbut as moisture accumulated on the metal it ran towards the bottom thus causing the rust (and that's the best theory or bull I can come up with) :hehe

Thanks Graechan!
It goes much better for me, but....
1-if I let "keep the layers" unchecked I get the rusted text moved down and the original layer invisible (temporary solution for the latter obviously set visibility on, but the text is not in the requested position)
2-if I check "keep the layers" I got a doubled text: the rusted one much below and the one in the original posizion non really rusted
Still some work for you today/tonight....
Thanks

I can't tell any difference in 0.4.0 and 0.4.1. I downloaded the newest one. Looking at it inside I don't see 0.4.1 in the list. If I choose light gray for either Logo or Alpha to Logo it changes to black.

; Rel 0.02 - Added the Alpha script and increased the rust Severity

Hi Graechan, thanks a lot!
Both my tests run successfully (with and without keeping the layers)

@Oregonian
the effect is different in different position of the letters (or screws...) on the text, look at the two different "E" in my text

Hi,

Love this script however when I change the background type to gradient and click on a new background gradient, Gimp crashes and has to close down. Changing background colour and pattern works fine. I am using Gimp 2.8.4 on Windows 8 64 bit. Any ideas why this is happening??

Thanks

Bob

It's a bug in Gimp 2.8.4 that we are all waiting to be fixed. It has been reported in bugzilla.

This bug does not seem to effect Windows Vista 32 bit. Changing background gradients works excellent for me.

Is this just a 64 bit bug then? Or something specific to Windows 8?
