I did that the last time but just tried it again and got the same result.
If it has you scratching your head then I have no doubt it's something with my setup somehow. Apparently no one else is experiencing this same behavior.
I even downloaded it twice to rule out corruption. I can't imagine what it is, but I'll see what I can figure out tomorrow. If there was only a way to get more verbose output I'm sure it would be easy to track. I always seem to get these weird issues :P

It's installed with the rest of my scripts
~/.gimp-2.8/scripts/

I did change the menu location since I don't use an <Image>/script-fu/ menu, but the first time I tried to run it and it didn't work, I installed it unmodified and called it from the default menu location but I get the same results.

Did you delete the modified Script so you have only the original script installed

No, I backed it up instead.
Random Font Text.scm~
and it doesn't show in my menu.
To be thorough, I just removed it from the scripts folder and tried again.
same...

Akovia can you do a search of your gimp for 'Random Font Text.scm' and post a screenshot of the search result

I'm not sure if it's related but I've ran into a similarly strange issue with Script-Fu before, as outlined in this post.

I turns out that if you have duplicate .scm scripts, GIMP doesn't warn you about the duplicate script. It actually displays the dialog from the first script it encounters, then generates an error when you run it. We figured it must be using parts of each script or that the duplicate confuses gimp to the point where it throws an error.

GnuTux I was just thinking that must be the cause, because when the script is ran with defaults it doesn't actually do much but enter the text, It's always hard to track down something like this in other peoples gimp Gimp
Sallyanne here's one for you

Very nice Graechan, I see you have run dinasset's script on it too.
Where is the latest of that, assuming there is another one since last night?

Forgot to add. Is there an align option - to centre these? I had to do it manually after I had kept the lines in separate layers.

If I remove the script and do a Plugin Browser Search, it is no longer there. I don't believe it's a duplicate issue, unless maybe it uses a similar named procedure in the code possibly? (this is me grasping)

akovia, perhaps the script was renamed. GIMP doesn't care what the filename is. It still sees it as a duplicate. Perhaps look for all .scm scripts to see that you don't have one that is similar.

You could temporarily move all scripts out of /home/akovia/.gimp-2.8/scripts , then run GIMP to see if it registers the script from somewhere else. If it doesn't, just copy only the RFT script into /home/akovia/.gimp-2.8/scripts and see if it works. If it does, you know there is a duplicate in the scripts folder under another name or there is a conflict with another .scm script.

Thanx GnuTux, but I just downloaded the script today, and tried right after installing it. Also, I realize it doesn't care what the name of the script is, which is why I also did the search in the Plugin Browser, as it searches for the actual function/procedure. Even if the script was named something else, it would still show up there.

It's late here, and I will be out most of the day tomorrow, but I'll keep at it after that. Thanks for everyone's help.

I posted before I saw your last post. You're right but looking in the Plug-in Browser might not tell you if you have a conflict with another .scm script. If you only have RFT in the scripts folder and there are no other scm scripts (aside from GIMP's defaut scripts) installed in your global folder, you know the problem lies elsewhere.

Looking at your console messages, you do have lots of duplicates (and other issues) with your plug-ins folders, but I wasn't going to mention those until we were sure there were no duplicate or conflicting .scm scripts. :)
