Wallace, I think the bike looks great after the filter, it seems to have cleaned up some of the glare from the lighting. I have noticed also on slightly foggy/smokey areas some detail is enhanced a bit also. Jamac4k, the large dog's coat look very glossy and nice details in the B&W! Pat625 the jungle waterfall is COOL! Rod, I had my mothers dog on my lap and she started barking at the screen when she saw your dog photo. funny! |

I'm not a very good photographer and for the most part, the camera I have is a point and shoot, with little setting to fuss with. Even so, I still wouldn't know what settings to use if I had them. ![]() |

I understand, Wallace. I have a little Cybershot. It does have some settings on it, but for the most part I just use the "auto" setting! Thanks Brian, for your nice comment. This is a very nice filter. |

Wallace, I didn't mean to sound discouraging! There were other photographs - one was a steam engine train - after running them through the filter you could see details that were no at all visible in the original due to the steam. Also some landscapes with fog in them were cleaned up. I didn't say exactly what I meant. I was reading a tutorial on silhouette photography a few weeks ago.. It is hard shooting into the light source though. I think that might be fun, you light behind the subject and trick the camera into darkening the subject. I suppose the computerized cameras may be difficult to trick. In my early teens it was 620 black and white, had a small developing kit (no enlarger - that was the reason for the 620). It was fun but expensive, had to mow lots of lawns. Years later went to 35mm - all manual so had to learn a little about settings. I have a hobby repairing cell phones. Was thinking about getting a digital camera. Decided to try some cellphone cameras. Works good enough for me! |

Hello Brian, Is the version 1.a the last one of your fake emboss filter ? I have an error message under Gmic 2.03 'plug-in gmic2 not found" Thank you, if you have an idea for this. |

Francis, if animicule is out for a while, you may edit the source (with notepad++ e.g.) trying to replace "...gmic2" with "...gmic_qt"; maybe you get the filter working (if the other parameters are already "modern" for gmic). Edit: downloaded and checked: no, do not loose time, also the other parameters have to be changed. Hope for you animicule is not in vacation... |

Fran6, I will take a look and see what I can do, I think with gmic 2.04, since it is the new stable version... Thank you for letting me know! |

Fran6, Here is a new version (on page 1 of this thread). I tested it on G'Mic 2.0.4 and it works. Maybe you have an older version from when GMic was in between releases.... Let me know if this works for you. Thank you, Brian |

Tested, it works under G'MIC 2.0.3; there should be no problem for Fran6 even w/o installing 2.0.4 |

Thank you Dinasset! Good to know it works in 2.0.3qt All I did was fix the undo group commands, which has no effect on G'Mic. (just 'housekeeping').. I now think Fran6 has an older version of this script, if my memory is good, the gmic2 call was in very short use, before the qt version. |
