Very nice Issabella!
Last two particularly are wonderful.

Time for a new play.
This time I made experiments combining two samj's Gmic testing filters
- samj_Edges_And_LIC
- samj_Posterize_B

Here 3 examples, using portraits:




( same rule: if there will be some interest, I will post also the filter)

Here are my first attempts with a covered bridge :

My original photo of Perrine's Bridge (New Paltz, New York, USA)

One more set color / BW fof a stock sunset photo (not my photo)
Original and then the second where i set the multiply layer to 50% opacity
and the samj grain extract layer to 50% opacity

(steps are to help recreate the effect -ish)
[ does the term "-ish" translate well ? ]

And here are two that were made from the black and white option with some
the first is the default , large, BW
the second is large, BW, samj layer set to 50% which let some color through

I really like that by just changing the opacity , the image really changes nicely
Layer modes like screen, multiply .. try a few along with the opacity and see what you get
that is basically all i did - i am learning but still a long way to go it is all about having fun

I'm not in that kind of image manipulation, although, I'm browsing your different threads sparingly time to time that you do with Issabella (like your Join Venture), but I should tell that I'm not "in".
The first one on your post #45 caught my attention with this kind of canvas/clothes texture, that's a cool one, well done (also at #47 some cool ones as well)
Thus you made me try the samj_Edges_And_LIC's filter, that's a surprising one, thank you dinasset for the discovery

I detected you "are not in" image manipulation, if you remember one of my comments on your activity. In fact there are a lot of persons here who are more oriented considering GIMP as GTMP (..TEXT manipulation..). Unfortunately I'm not in there (you have seen I'm not very active on text manipulation). We prefer opposite areas of interest.
Glad I could suggest you to try some samj's test Gmic filters, that is also one of my objectives: walking around non fully official functions.

This thread is really interesting.
