@Lyle:
As someone earlier in this thread, I would like to know how you created your texture (I lOVE IT! Still can't get over it..). Specifically, the stroke. The "seamlessness" via kaleidoscope plug is understood. Please find time to do if not a full blown tutorial, then, at least, a quick run down.

I've been trying to figure it out, I realized that I can't come up with a solution neither in Gimp nor Photoshop.

I actually responded to him at Deviant. Since the Spiralgraph is already circular, you don't need to do any of the steps from Pan and Bow and earlier; just the rest from this tut: http://justpaste.it/edit/838127/e9aa8b08

Then Mehdi's Kaleidoscope filter makes it Seamless. Again, because of GIMP 2.8's dynamic brush response, you just need a single layer of this brush (the vertical) and stroke the path created by your Spirograph output P-and-B. :)

For some addition steps, I started with a stroked Spiralgraph like this and used similar Droste settings as shown below. Again, it's Mehdi's Kaleidoscope filter that makes it seamless, but you need to play with the sliders or you will get floaters which won't make a real lace. :)

Hey Lyle this would make some great, and realistic looking embroidery results also.

Thanks Rod; again, I really do like GIMP's new dynamic brush. Still waiting on the patches that Partha already is implementing and getting to wonder if I should just install Partha's installer over my current and be done with it. lol

I mean, he's fixed the jpeg preview, and already implemented the gimprc fix. Only bug left is the color management brush lag issue. Not sure how long that will take and I believe (and do hope) the gurus release 2.8.1 soon. If I knew what dll Partha changed, I would just extract and put it in my GIMP folder, but I'm so confused. lol

:)

I decided to use the vector-path script to help create a droste Image

my path

after stoking with animated rope brush

then running pan-to-bow 360 degrees

and finally droste

lylejk, that is a super cool texture you made dude! Thanks for posting the info on creating it. Actually, I spent a few hours today trying to make Mehdi's Kaleidoscope work with PSPI on Gimp 2.6 to no avail.
Here is my go at your lace:

That is a great job you did on applying Lyle's lace to a table cloth B&P. Could you share a step by step how you did that? Thanks.

Hello lyle, thanx for your answers. looks like I will need time to decipher your message completely

for now I haven't had time to play with spirograph. I will disturb you again when I have time. Thanx

Now that's way too cool Molly. You caught me at the wrong time hanciong (way too lazy at the moment) but I will share you the shortcut to Mehdi's Kaleidoscope plugin (free by the way). If you choose even numbers, it will automatically give you a seamless texture (that's a hint). Since I believe it no longer works with PSPI (bummer), you have to use Shellout and a surrogate program like XNView to run this filter. :)

You can get some pretty neat results with the pencil02 brush. :)
Smaller brushes would be best i think.

To be honest, my SpiroGraph script was born out of lack of research - I only stumbled upon Farris curves after I finished coding my implementation LOL. I would never bother otherwise. :)
Anyway, it's there now, so everyone has an alternative. ;)

I did it in Cinema 4D, so I don't know if a step-by-step will be appropriate here. Anyway, there is plenty of Cloth tutorials out there for various 3D packages.

I've been working out a few ideas for stroking the SpiroGraph and Vector Path, here is an example:

I like that, was it done with a brush or new settings, new settings I hope. :bigthup

It's always good having B&P on the pages.

Unfortunately, no. I've tried a few things but no go. Unless we come up with 3D engine for Gimp.
Now, I am streamlining the workflow for manual weave creation by using duplicate mirrored layers, masks etc. Will post more samples soon.
For Vector Path there will be animation option though - user will be able to generate n number of segments instead of a single path.
