how do you install it i mean beautify look astonishing i love it
i already downloaded the script but im stuck know been trying to figure this out for hours know where do the files go i mean i tryed to put it in the plugins folder but i keep getting an error saying .dll is missing or something, i would be much appreciated if i get the hell i need thanx.

If you are using Windows you need only place the 4 execute files in the plug-ins folder and restart Gimp-2.8. Adding the extra folders for textures is optional.
The plug-ins i compile are only tested on Gimp-2.8.1 windows 32 bit.

Others have compiled for Linux and Windows 64 bit.

Make sure you have only one copy of libgimpui-2.0-0.dll in your Gimp-2.8 path.
Otherwise none will load, and Gimp will say they are missing.
This was a big problem with the zlib dll file also.It was in the windows\system folder and the Gimp bin. Therefore Gimp wouldn't see them. The fix was to rename all the zlib dll files except the one in Gimps bin folder.
Likewise you may have extras and need to rename all but the one in Gimps bin folder.
Rename the duplicates to libgimpui-2.0-0_copy.dll or something if you want to keep them.

If that doesn't fix the problem then you should notify the Gimp dev team. :)

Excellent filter. Thanks Rod. Can I insert my own borders in the folder "Customs"? I've tried it, but I don't know how to keep my original color. The filter demands an specific color, though this change my colors.

The images are converted to a white mask. You can copy the mask to a new layer and make it a feathered selection then color it however you wish.

Good morning to all;

I'm new here and still a bit new to Gimp and plug ins and all that... please bare with me. I'm trying to install the beautify plug in but can't seem to figure it out. I've read the posts on this thread as well as on others but either the links to download don't work or just give me a compressed folder of mumbo jumbo (to me) lol.. I'm using Gimp 2.8 on Windows 8.. if someone could please walk me through this I would really really appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Maria

Thank you very much! And from reading it seems that Rod's does seem to be the simplest course, but his links however come up as expired... :(

Hi Molly, and yes I am. I'm also lost on what exactly to do with those files.. lol sorry I'm still a bit slow with all this... I know how to put files into the plug ins folder and the scripts folder and all that, but those files don't seem to work and upon looking at them further I can't seem to find a typical plug in or script file. Forgive me I'm still learning.

I like the beautify plugin however I think I may have messed mine up.

I downloaded the newest version of the plugin plus the extra borders and textures but could not get them to go into beautify in gimp. I even did them all seperately. copied and replaced - when that didn't work I tried move and replace to the appropriate folders.

I am currently using gimp vs 2.8.10 on Windows 7, 32 bit

Has the beautify plugin been installed in this version?
I deleted all the folders and files from my gimp but it still shows up (Just realised maybe not all of the applications though) I could still see beautify after opening, closing, opening, closing and opening gimp (to make sure it had refreshed) then shut down computer and opened gimp and it was still there. I decided to try it on a picture and it still worked although with error messages.

My reason for deleting?
I thought if I added them again in the folders the new ones would be there.

Can anyone let me know if it should be ok now if I just add the new ones in the 2.8 folders
and exactly how I should add the extra plugins

when you delete a plug-in but you still see it, you have to delete the "pluginrc" file and restart Gimp.
Gimp will reload ALL available plug-ins so that what is not there will not show up

SallyAnne,

Here's what I did. I have windows 64 so it's probably the same way.

What I did was Local C: Users: Mackenzie: .gimp-2.8: plugins then I added the folder Beautify-Win_64. Once I added that, I then opened GiMP, went to Preferences, scrolled down folders, then to plugins, then clicked the open folder, then did this: C:/Users/Mackenzie/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins/Beautify-Win_64... then finally, I restarted gimp. You should find Beautify in the filters section. For me it is below Alpha To Logo.

I hope that helps.

..once you have cleared the situation (the plug-in does not show up) you can re-install all the needed pieces following the instructions indicated in Gimp Scripts

I hope this helps a bit.
Beautify is not installed with Gimp 2.8.
I think there was another script or plugin with a simlar name.
I believe Beautify needs RGB mode to work.

In Linux I have all files in my (Gimp user dir) odinbc/.gimp-2.8/.
Files:
odinbc/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins/
beautify
border
simple-border
skin-whitening

Extra Borders:
odinbc/.gimp-2.8/
rip-border/
texture-border/

Finally it is gone. Thank you all for your help. I had to delete another part of it (Border plus the pluginrc).
Hopefully I can get it all back again now with the extras from a clean slate.
