Nice painting, Molly. It looks like I'm viewing it through a crinkled frosty lens. :smiley2

Thank you, I just wish I could finish it. don't like painting grass. I will experiment more with your filter later, it looks very promising.

Molly, that's really very nice. I like that oval frame/window effect. It could be almost like viewing it in a rearview mirror if the surrounding countryside wasn't in it.

Here's my attempt at adding a window. I just created the grid and filled with beveled wood pattern using the toolbox, then added a flutterby and glass window panes with a slight texture.

Nice job, GnuTux! I still have my layers. I was thinking window frame, white fence with the colored shadows of the chimes down on the fence. I got tired of messing with it.

I'm considering adding..

Fills
Active Brush
Gradient Glass

Effect Layer
Extrude
Frame
Edge shadow
Drop shadow

I'd appreciate suggestions of any other ideas on how to enhance the script. :hi5

An inner glow and an inner shadow would be nice additions. :)

Thanks, GnuTux, for sharing this effective script. :)
It is easy to obtain nice logos with it:

I also find the source code really neat and well written, especially for the fact that the numerous code snippets are endowed with explicative comments making everything understandable. :bigthup

If I may, I would just like to report a possible small oversight affecting the "Fill method" option, where in the fourth item I seem to read "Horizonal" instead of the correct "Horizontal".

tried several different logos this afternoon using this script. How do you get the pattern around the edge of the letters?

@Rod - I'll add those to the to-do list, Rod. :bigthup

@Gino D - Thanks Gino. My CS college professors pounded the need for well documented code into my head back in the 80s and it has served me well over the years. Also, thanks for reporting the typo. It has been corrected for the next release.

@sallyanne - The key to getting a fill stoke (or offset fill stroke) is to run the script twice.

Start out by running the File/Create Logo, keeping in mind that the script's fill type will end up being the stroke you're after, so select the gradient or pattern you want to become the fill stroke. Optionally, you can turn the bevel offset and bump layer off.

Image

You'll get something like this, with the base text layer selected.

Image

Next, run the script from the Alpha to Logo menu. Ensure the 2x Bevel offset is set to the fill stroke width you want (+ the width of stroke layer you specified in Create Logo, if any). Set the stroke width to 0, effect to none and set the Bump layer to "Pattern Bump 2nd bevel only".

Image

After running the script, click off the new fill layer (color fill in this case) to allow the first fill to show through, which gives you an offset fill stroke. :cool

Image

For those who are interested, I actually never run a "stroke" command in this script. Strokes are done by allowing the layers underneath to show though. Stroke layers are created by cropping of the areas of the image I don't need. This technique works well and has its advantages but I might add an alternate "selection to path" stoke, at some point, when needed.

Cool, let me know how it goes.

You can also use the same technique of running the script multiple times to create logos with inlayed fills of color, patterns. gradients or glass. Once you become familiar with all the features of this script, I think you'll find it to be very versatile.

Used Rod's rust pattern for another take on rusty text. :hehe

This looks like a nice script.
You can do the effects on pictures as well?

This always worked fine before, now I'm getting this error:

Error while executing script-fu-logo-toolbox:

Error: eval: unbound variable: gimp-image-raise-item

Can you be more specific, Warrior? Grab the script again, overwrite the one you have and let me know.

I have a new version of this script, with much improved selection routines but it still needs a few tweaks before it's ready for release. I'll have a chance to pick back up on scripting over the next week so the new version should be ready for release soon.
