My result with Issabella's Graphic_Effect_Impressions
At two different steps my image became too dark for some reason and i reduced that layer's opacity to 65
which seemed to be good for this image

i saw pics with X2D but i only saw X X2 X2B (cause there was a revision)
did i miss X2D ?

here is the same image using the plug-in JVID_Y
with hard canvas and soft canvas
--these came out a bit dark too but that can be adjusted after
with the tutorial version maybe less gauss-blur or less dilate might work for this image
experimentation , trial and error

Some images can give surprising outcomes after applying a filter or applying a tutorial. So, try it with other different images.
About your dark result while doing the process, in Comic Book (Gmic) you can increase luminosity, perhaps that helps.
My answer to your question, I apply Color to Gray + Exposure only to show that there is one more option to apply to one final effect in a process. Only That.

Thank you - Color to gray. i will try -before and after, and see if it makes a difference
and i will look for luminosity in gmic-comicbook - i must have overlooked that setting
