OK; figured out what the issue is (where I placed the directories for the emaps). Still running; will post my result shortly. :)

lylejk, I have the same messages, can you tell me how you fixed it please.

The emaps need to go to your users/.gimp2.8 main directory (each as it's own subdirectory). :)

I've done that but i'm on Linux so it's kim/.gimp2.8. Could that be the problem?

When I was typing the above I remembered that the / was a \ in the filter dialog. I changed them to the correct slash and now I don't get an error message. However the picture only gets a little emap globe in the top left corner and nothing else.

Yes; you will need to use the right slashes. Windows uses double slashes (//user//.gimp2.8) as I recall, so the python scripts will need to be edited for the right way linux requires. I believe there's a way to write python scripts to detect if it's being run in either Windows or Linux and do these commands accordingly, but I'm not a coder. :)

Right, Thanks Lyle, I guess I will have to wait for a Linux coder to see it.

I wish you can have your problem solved as soon as possible, Kimba. :) I'm sure someone being a Linux coder will be able to say what to do. ;)

Kimba, the filter makes use of the python command "expanduser" to find the appropriate path up to the user, thus your username is detected automatically, then it attaches to this path what is defined as parameter in the filter, for instance (first one):
"\.gimp-2.8\EMapsGemRED"
if you REALLY have ".gimp2.8" instead of ".gimp-2.8" you may modify the parameters, but probably what you posted has a typo (check whether you have the dash)

Sorry Dinasset, I typed it with the hyphen and now I don't get error messages and it starts working but before it ends it takes away the effect and puts a little square of the tiling in the top left corner.

Kimba, try using this different version

DIEGO_QUANTIZE_CrystallizeN.7z [5.8 KiB]

it allows you to create a smaller image (it's a parameter) and traces each call to BRL for each colour area (look at the error message console)

this one is OK also for Lyle, who likes to get an outcome at the same size in which the filter produces it

edit: it creates a NEW image, the original is untouched

ImageThis is what I get now.

The top 7 messages are the first run before I changed the slashes and I got the same result as before.

The bottom 2 messages are new and as you see I get a almost blank result. My sig is the subject so you can see what happens. I suddenly wondered if my Gimp 2.8.16 or Gmic 1.6.8 could be the problem.

Kimba, it seems as the patterns aren't in the right place.
where did you place them?

The pattern folders are in the Gimp2.8 folder, Issabella.

Yes, they are in .gimp-2.8. Sorry Issabella, I will try to be more precise.

Don't worry. I'd like so much you could play this nice filter... :(

I am also having difficulty. I downloaded the last script as I could not get the first to work ( DIEGO_QUANTIZE_CrystallizeN.7z ). The script runs, but I keep getting these errors, and the output is horrible.

I took a much simpler image to try this time. I still got all those messages of errors but the filter ran all the way through. Turning off some of the layers gave me a decent result. Why all the errors?

@Kimba
I took your sig image, here attached:
- the outcome running CrystallizeN with default parameters
- the screenshot at the end showing also the messages (did you get all of them up to area nr 11?)
