I couldn't find anything in GIMP that would grow a box to a figure so played with G'MIC > Deformations > Twirl.

Started out with a butterfly dingbat and twirled it, then twirled the one I had already twirled and kept repeating until I had added 19 more layers.

i used the iwarp tool, start with a box...grow and stretch it to your hearts delight...to a figure...and click animation...add 40 or so frames save it as an animation ,play it back, and there you have it...morphing from a square box =)
I actually got the idea from Gimptricks hulk tutorial *thanks to Gimptricks*

I'm going to have to try that. I'm not good at drawing though. Guess I could iwarp a shape and give my result a name. :hehe

Good news - developer uploaded my compiled binaries to the official project page:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-apng/files/

So now we should expect a few hundred downloads from that page, quite soon.
And more feedback from Windows users, hopefully.

at soon i get a decent connection (should be before next week-end ) i will be happy to offer another mirror for the plugin in my deviantart gallery of gimp resources(www.photocomix_resources.deviantart.com)

It seems working well on Win7 :coolthup

Hi PhotoComix! :jumpclap

Are the APNG's visible in the IE browser in Win7? Thanks for posting about Win7. We were all wondering.

It APNG filter works beautifully on my Windows XP machine, and the images animate beautifully on the Opera browser too. I'm going to try using the option under animations, to optimize it as if it were a gif. The file size is huge (8 Mb) on my first small animated image.

it shows a save as PNG-APNG but when i go to save the file it tells me the extension isnt the same as the saved extension.....weird.Aren't you supposed to save it as a PNG but use the save as PNG-APNG setting?

Yes. That's how it works. The extension is mypicture.png, not mypicture.apng, but I think you already know that.

Do you have an apng you can try opening in gimp 2.7?

Re-posting this so you have a copy of the dialog to check.

Here is one I posted at the beginning of this thread. Just right-click and save to your hard drive then try opening it with gimp. Hopefully, it will open with 3 layers.

I don't have Windows, but I think you have specified the correct file to dump. Be sure to back it up first just in case you need it back.

Take a look at Molly's tutorial about how to install and what to do.
