i believe in both
it is there to avoid to mix 32 and 64bit binary (mostly important in case they have the same name )

I have the official 64bit version and that is the correct path for the python folder

This is a list of my files and there paths

C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\lib\gimp\2.0\python\formula_viewer.pyw
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\lib\gimp\2.0\python\formula_presets.csv
C:\Users\Graechan\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\b&p_vector_path_1.py
My install works fine

Yup; listen to Graechan folks (wish I would have gone the extra mile). If you do what Graechan outlined, it will work. Mine's a little different since I did a custom install (i.e., my program directory name is GIMP 2.8; lol). :)

Yeah i have portable and my install locations are
F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\lib\gimp\2.0\python for the csv and pyw files, and
F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\plug-ins for the python module.
And my install works fine.

Still more ideas coming to mind, so there will be another feature added soon - stroke duplication with offset,rotation,scale(problem with scale). Now you could get to those certificates and money bills design Lyle ;)
Stay tuned.

Alright, here is the beta for testing. I just finished coding it in Gimp 2.6 on Win XP. Seems to work, but I need you guys to help out and test on different setups.
Post examples and bugs! Cheers.

Thanks B and P! :)
Some tests in Gimp-2.8 windows xp 32 bit.
This is out of Parthas 32 bit Gimp-2.8 portable version.

First off i have to say the dialog is so long i can not see the bottom. :lol
It's probably okay for monitors that are not wide screen, but mine is. :)

Then after entering the values i got a trace back error.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\lib\gimp\2.0\python\gimpfu.py", line 699, in response
    dialog.res = run_script(params)
  File "F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\lib\gimp\2.0\python\gimpfu.py", line 361, in run_script
    return apply(function, params)
  File "F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\plug-ins\b&p_vector_path_2_BETA.py", line 194, in draw_path
    for i in range(copies):
TypeError: range() integer end argument expected, got float.

Hello All
I have been trying to get this working on linux (xubuntu 12 to be exact).
I tried all the methods mentioned in this post with no luck so I think I narrowed it down one problem (since someone else got it working with python 2.7 that wasn't it.
this is the python path.
In this thread I seen it had to be this:
python=C:\Program Files\Gimp 2\python\pythonw.exe
/usr/bin/python=C:\Program Files\Gimp 2\python\pythonw.exe
:Python:E::py::python:
Thats for windows
In linux it is:
python=/usr/bin/python
/usr/bin/python=/usr/bin/python
:Python:E::py::python:

So I take it the path in the plug-in has to be changed.
import os
os.startfile(path+'\\python\\'+'formula_viewer.pyw')
but to what?
any help in this would be appreciated.
I really want to try this, the spiro one has the same issue.

Thanks in advance
Sam

Ah, yes. Damn. Always forget that 2.8 requires explicit integer type declaration ( default is float). I will fix it some time soon, but you might not wanna wait for me;):
change
range(whatever)
to
range(int(whatever))
and you should be good to go. Apologies.

@samriggs:
I think you're on to something here. Hope, someone will sort it out for us. I am developing on Windows, no access to Linux or Mac, so cannot help.

@ samriggs
more or less working here.
This is in a PCLOS, Gimp 2.8 RC1 and python 2.6.6

From what you say python 2.7 is not the problem, can't say.

The b&p_vector_path_2_BETA.py (or the pre-beta one) goes in /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins
and
formula_viewer.pyw & formula_presets.csv goes in /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/python
You need the pre-beta zip for these files.

Remember to make the .py and .pyw executable.

Very-very quick try here, As seen the formula and perpendicular modes working. However the random mode crashed.

edit: a little more testing. Using the random mode, the plugin crashes. No callback info available.
However, a path is generated with a blank reverse path. Turning off reverse path - no crash.
