I am jealous. Still cant get this to work for me. I downloaded the release 2 twice to make sure I had the right one. All I get is the same as what pirate is/was getting.
I don't want to have to but I can only think of installing Gimp again?

SallyAnne, did you read (and follow) what Rod answered to Pirate?

What version of Gimp do you have, sallyanne? Mine is 2.8.6. I don't think re-installing Gimp is going to help. I did find that using a fat font helps. I used Thickhead in the image below set to size 178.

You can see the size of the brush if you check the box next to check brush size and run the script. You can do Ctrl + Z to undo the single star. Be sure you uncheck that box or you will have only a single star each time you run the script.

I checked keep the selection but did not keep the layers. I also saved the selection to path in case I accidentally unselected.

The other setting I changed in the script was to set the spacing to zero this time. I didn't any other time though.

I updated the filters in G'MIC v1.5.6.1.

  1. Type and center your text. Alpha to selection and I shrank the selection 2.
  2. Run the script at default settings except check keep the selection.
  3. If you want it animated, duplicate the layer that is filled with stars and fill the selection with the font color. (Mine was black)
  4. Run the script
  5. Again duplicate the active layer and fill with font color.
  6. Run the script. Keep doing this until you have as many layers as you want.
  7. This animation has 7 layers.

Thanks Odin. I'll see what I can do in that regard. :hehe

Graechan: One of the things some may be not doing is unchecking the check brush size box and they think the script is not working and only doing one star.

I thought the 'check brush size' option would assist people,not confuse them

It's a wonderful option, just remember to turn it off once the size of the brush has been decided.

@Lyle: That's totally awesome.

Thanks O.

OK Graechan; one more request for the script. I would like the option to not have the object rotate (good for bobbles and also apparently for skittles because of the light reflection in the brush itself). Just a request (do I again, asketh for too mucheth? lol). I see little need for the Orthogonal option with the preset, but others may like that too, but that's up to you (and so is my request; lolol).

Still, I do appreciate this since it helps skip a few steps that I usually have to do manually. Kudos to all and definitely to David for fulfilling a near 7 year quest. Still waiting for a good way to do single line fill of arbitrary container renders though. lol

:)

Lyle just for you I'll add an option in Rel3 (in other words 'oops I should have thought of that') ;)

Also contains improvements to the script coding

Script doesn't work at all now Graechan. :(

The any choice of angles is a nice addition to the filter. :) :bigthup

Can you add fill shape with color according to color sample bottom layer?
I am thinking with the correct brush you could make some interesting colored images. :bigthup

Downloaded rel 3 and it does something. It selects the text and the image but nothing else. I am really frustrated that this hasn't worked at all for me yet. I am sorry Graechan.
Anyone have an idea what my problem could be? Has pirate got it yet?

@GnuTux - Love your fireworks

@ Oregonian I have Gimp version 2.8.4 and G'MIC 1.5.6.0
Updated my GMIC and still am not getting anything. Not even the 1 star now.
@Graechan just followed Rod's instructions to pirate and it didn't help.

Sallyanne, try updating your GMIC to 1.5.6.1, it became available yesterday. That may not be your answer.
