Revisiting my small filter "MultiScaledCrystals":
- Added a final pattern overlay (my choice is the attached one)
- Added the "small" option to the tile size dimensions
- added the "Flatten" option to the filter
If you like to experiment, here the amended version and the default pattern:

One example in the 3 tile sizes possible:
- "regular" (default)

- "large" (creates a more abstract look)

- "small" (closer to the source image structure)

If you want to experiment with your own patterns, please take into account that the pattern dimension is rescaled to the outcome dimension, hence it's better to use a large pattern not to "loose" the structure of the pattern itself.

Interesting this effect, Dinasset. I did a first try. Thanks for this adapted filter. :)

This morning I created a new pattern (more "regular") for this filter.
An example:
Attachment:
2017-11-16 07-50-32 7_by_willow32, with multi-scaled crystals, size regular, on 12 areas, using pattern Crystals3GX2000.jpg

Looking at your experiments, Issa, I have to deduce that there is something wrong in this filter, because they are not "wow", as normally your outcomes are; some are acceptable, other ones less. Maybe the filter is only suitable for a small set of picture types.
Let rest it until it comes some good improving idea into my tired mind...Thanks a lot for your trials, my friend.
Non tutte le ciambelle riescono col buco (motto italiano) e così pure i miei filtri...hehehe

How do I get rid of the smart sharpen filter that uses the resynthsizer plugin? I don't need it since I have other sharpen tools at my disposal. It's found here: Filters>Enhance>Smart Sharpen.

this happens:

Is that supposed to happen? I'm using Gimp 2.10.12 Windows 10 64Bit

If your Gimp didn't do this before,
then something was done, or happened/changed.
Check for any recently added .py files,
that you may have installed.
Remove them and check your Gimp.
You can do this with 3 or more .py file.
Check Gimp, if this still happens.
Then you have not removed the file,
it's still there.
If you remove them all and this does away with this.
You can install a few .py at a time and check Gimp again.
Recording your screen,
while you open your Gimp, can also help.

The only files I added were Diego's 33 filters.. without them, my gimp works as normal.

There are two versions of this plugin:
26-MultiColouredParticles see post # 480 (initial); see post # 491 (enhanced version)
Quote:
The new faster edition is ready, here it is.
An example about the improvement of the performances:
- using W + H = 1600 and nr.of areas = 15 previous edition took 9 minutes
- ... current edition takes 20 seconds
The filter is no more sensible to the dimensions of the output image.
Still sensible to the number of areas (it takes a bit more than 1 second for each color area on my PC).

Use viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15637&start=490#p220001

MacKenzieh,
I'm on vacation, I have a laptop here and a slow internet connection.
I will try to download all those 33 filters here and try them, one at a time to see whether there is something wrong.
Be patient….

Just an update.
I'm working on what I said.
Already tested more than 50% of the 33 filters:
- found some bugs, fixed (filters# 6,8,11,13)
- impossible to test #24, this computer detects a dangerous virus when downloading crystallize.exe from the Japanese site.
Now I'm a bit tired, and will continue later, likely tomorrow.
