Here is a created set of patterns:

These pattern have a centre in black (which will be removed to let the centre of the outcome transpare fully visible, a white all around, which will be "colored" by the chosen paper colour.
The filter provides a set of predefinied colours and a place where the user can enter a different specific personal colour for the bg pattern.

Here an example of outcome generated by the filter (used filter defult paper)

A lot of customizations in both cases.

Do the patterns go in the patterns folder or can they be placed somewhere else?

Those are examples, you may simply use them or create your own.
The characteristics are:
- central portion in black (will become transparent and let the outcome emerge)
- border portion in white (will be replaced by the user chosen paper colour and create a sort of frame)

I prepared a variant of the last filter (Issabella's Line Art tutorial) for two different reasons:
1-personally I was in favor of a simpler, more linear instructions in the process, for myself and for those who like to examine the python code
2-contextually I included a different set of predefined colours, for the users
The variant is called B2: it does not replace at all the original version B, just adds more possibilities.
