Rob, I modified your script "filltrans" to accept only RGBA or GRAYA (it was RGB* GRAY*), i.e. only images with an Alpha channel.
The plug-in which is called internally (threshold-alfa) abends if the layer(s) do not have an alpha channel

I've added a new filter Repair / Solidify in the G'MIC plugin for GIMP that should be quite equivalent to the Flaming Pear Solidify filter.

The solidify algorithm is also used in another filter, namely Artistic / Smooth abstract :

I've also recorded a small video to show how this Solidify filter can be used to quickly create color gradients with complex shapes.

If you have some time to play with it and get interesting results, let me know !

I request that the Subject line be amended to:
"Alternative script to Flaming Pear Solidify filter [Flood Fill Transparency]"

I don't say that people will remember to search for "Flood Fill Transparency",
but a glance at the current subject would not suggest "this is it."

Also the link to the scm file is no longer valid. Perhaps someone that has the working scm file should upload it here?

EDIT- filltrans.scm can be found here.
