The last image you posted has much better tiles. Only darker separators, but tiles well defined.

You may try also "Basic", as Issabella does from time to time.
Your source image comes out not bad.

I found a few things :

The layer "preprocessed to overlay light areas" says mode = dissolve ..i made it 30%
that helped and then i said OH! .. and changed the mode off dissolve and set it to Overlay and
back to your 50% and that that looks better
(the to overlay is first image then the dissolve to 30%)

the Dissolve to 30% looks like Issabella's .. for some reason the Overlay layer is tagged as overlay when the mode is set to dissolve ..i just lowered the opacity and matched Issabella's

My version of GIMP / GMIC must be slightly different / older

Also i am currently running GIMP 2.10.25 with G'MIC-Qt for GIMP 2.8 (2.9.9)
- due to the linux mint 19 which is based on Ubuntu 18.04
i cant seem to get GMIC for 2.10 That could be part of the problem
i need to update this laptop

I changed the mode to OVERLAY and opacity to 25.00.
Much better look. :paint
