My system: Vista 32 bit, Python 2.7.5, GIMP 2.8.10, wxPython 3.0.
I downloaded the latest version.
Confirm the diagnosis Rod:
Open Windows Dialog - works well
Save Dialog Windows - not (the previous version was running - but without recording layers for *. xcf)

interesting,
i've never been using vista, so I can't debug it there.
(BTW: i verified - and the current download is my latest version)
my only tip is:
delete all other copies of my plugin (open-as-windows.py, save-as-windows.py), and restart gimp

EDIT: tested both with wx and pywin32

keshef is the wx install required as well as the the win32 pkg, and if so could you post the plugins/wx file in a zip

Anybody interested in trying my attempt at using your operating system's native file selection dialog?

I got the TKinter method working, which in theory means that it will work if you have Python working in GIMP

This is only really done as a proof of concept and I'd especially like anyone on Macs to let me know if it works.

I've only implemented a "Native Open" to prove the point, and I've not added all the various file type filters either.

Kevin

Zipped because Python scripts in the raw are just too dangerous !?!

You don't need to install anything else.

Paynekj it doesn't place the file in the current document list or offer an overwrite option when saving

I'm surprised you got it to work at all !

I had only tried it on GIMP 2.6.7 which is using an externally installed Python and it looks like the Tkinter module hasn't been included in the Python packaged with 2.8.x (at least in the 2.8.2 I've got - try opening the Python console and typing import Tkinter)

@Graechan

You have a typo. Python is case-sensitive: it's Tkinter NOT tkinter

Are you using a Partha build?

I ask because I've just just done the painful thing of upgrading to 2.8.10 (while keeping 2.6.7 intact) and the Python version is 2.7.5 and doesn't have the Tkinter module.

Because of that I'm not going to do anything more to develop the code as it won't work for a standard installation - you are very welcome to do whatever you like to it just don't keep my name in the code.

Kevin I've used 2 portables (2.8.10 32bit, 2.8.10 64bit) from Onkel Hatti to test, although it works fine, my PC is not a good environment to test it in

yes, and thank you for posting it.

When I created my plugin, I tried to install tkinter in the python version included in my gimp, but the error message was something like:

this version of python was not even compiled with necessary support for tk, so there's no way to add tk to this python installation.

(not exact words, but this is what i remember)
