Despite the looks, no circles involved. The whole story is at the bottom.

Did you allow permissions or was that already checked?

Not necessary on Windows...

Works for me (WinXP, Gimp 2.8.10). Are you looking at the right menu? The script adds a "Shapes" submenu in the right-click menu of the Paths list. Otherwise

1) the file should go in the "plug-ins" directory, not the "scripts" one.
2) check that the extension is indeed .py and not .py.txt (extension can be added during download).
3) if you know how to, check its MD5 hash (you can obtain the MD5 of the file on Sourceforge with the (i) icon, and the MD5 matches the file on my disk).
4) start Gimp with "--verbose" and check for errors in the console window.

Now is working! Before I changed the previous py file with the new, instead the new is additional!!
Sorry if I take your time and a big thank you for this excellent plug-in!

Hmm. v0.5 replaces v0.4 (or whatever other version you had before). It is not an addition. If it works when you have both it's like because 0.5 is rejected as before and 0.4 is used. Do you have an entry "Rectangle>Square on diagonal" in the menu?

Yes in the Shape>rectangle>square on diagonal
Shape menu is the only imprevement that I can see and use
the menu in Filter>Render>Paths>shape-grid is the same
I'm working in Vista

Hi Ofnuts , I still have no joy with the path menu initiated shapes. I think there is some incompatibility with my Python, I run Python 2.6.4. I think Gimp 2.8.X runs Python 2.7.X . I have tried to resurrect my old XP but run into compatibility probs with my Motherboard. I tried to run on my Mint-Linux but I dont know how to install the plug-ins in Linux and that would be gimp 2.8 on Mint
All functions from your render plug-ins work eg. I showed you the random fill earlier.

Image

But not from the shapes from the paths menu. I show you the screen with the messages. Note using your latest plug-in. I have also tried putting the plugins in Gimp2.0/lib/gimp/2.0/plugins. I also ran gimp in verbose mode. Although some errors were flagged they had nothing to do with your plug-ins.
Note from the paths menu/tools/ ribbon from path works, as does text along path and generate intermediate path. Am I doing something wrong? Is the "path to shape" as simple as right clicking on the path, which initiates the big window and clicking through the "shape" and "circles from diameter or radius" ?

Image

It would be nice to know if someone else who runs Gimp 2.6.11 and has Python 2.6.4 can use the plug-ins from the paths menu.
I know I am running an old Gimp and Python so I dont think we should spend much more time on the problem.

Much the same result here, Bodhi linux, Gimp 2.6.8 Python 2.6.6, for right click layers dialog context menu.
Even tried changing the menu location to the same as for path shaped grid. Same result

However, path shape grid does work, although a tight fit in a 1024x600 display netbook ;)

Can you start the python-fu console, type
dir(gimp)
, strike [Enter] and copy the results here?

Ofnuts Is this what you want? I took the Pyconsole screenshot immediately after I did the shape from paths. I am not a programmer but I have worked for a very large computer company for 30 years in hardware / firmware and as such I have some idea about software compatibility and backward compatibility. I think we are flogging a dead horse. The filter works for your Gimp 2.8.X with Python 2.7.x it does not seem to work for Gimp 2.6.11 and Python 2.6.4. I really do appreciate your efforts but is it worth it. I am sure that when I upgrade to Gimp 2.9.x the plug-ins will work.
BTW I really do appreciate your efforts with plug-ins and your advice on GC and GT

Close but not cigar... I need it in text form, not as a screenshot.

after I put the two py files (path-shaped-grid0.0.py and path-to-shape-0.5.py)in the folder ...user>.gimp-2.8>plug-in

1. new image file trasparent
2. filters>render>paths>shape grid
3. change only the shape to RHOMBIC and OK
4. go to path dialog and right click
5. Shapes>Rectangle>Square from diagonal
6. change the FG color in blue and Edit>stroke path
7. return layer dialog and open a new trasparent layer
8. return to path dialog and click on the bottom path (Rhombic, Horiz)
9. Edit>stroke path
10. deselect the two paths
11. add a new white layer and move to the bottom

Here is the result
pls tell me if the flow is right thk

So what do I need to do to give you what you need? I am reasonable computer literate. Please in message me for more advice.

After the dir(gimp) in the Gimp console: Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, start a post here, and Ctrl-V:
