Hi lazy boys and girls!
Because - you know - I'm lazy and I like the tutorial written by Issabella (muchas gracias!) on creating a globe view of a picture, I wrote a script to implement it, so I can get the effect without going thru all the necessary steps.

Flow implemented to get the final result:

1. Duplicate the image
2. Add a new layer with the same image
3. Compress the added layer to a square (if requested by the user)
4. Map this layer to a sphere (the user can modify space and rotations)
5. Zoom blur the background image
6. Flatten the image (is requested by the user)

I attach here the script (zipped as usual) and just one example - using defaults .

If you like it, enjoy it!

You're not as lazy as you say to be. You think a lot and get good results. I wonder ... Why I did the tutorial so complicated ? you did it in six short steps. :rofl

Good job dinasset! I love it! :clap

Many, many thanks to all of you! Very nice words...and pretty examples of use.
Molly, I saw you played with the parameters; I introduced them because during my personal tests I had many times pictures not having the centre part as the most interesting, you find out how to use them well.
The Warrior, combining scripts is like creating / experimenting new recipes to get new flavours..., I too like this way of using together what I'm interested in.
Thanks again to Issabella, it was not complicated, you just missed to consider preparing the square since the beginning, avoiding to work on the resulting sphere.

Dinasset, where is your script emplaced? I find graechan's but not yours. I'd like to compare them.

Sorry, very sorry!!! At first with regards to you, Graechan, then also to all gimp-chatters here.
I didn't see at all the Manhattan script...
Spent time that I could avoid (especially being lazy!!!).
Also thank you Graechan for the bug detected, I put here the corrected version.
I did prefer to limit the maximum value of the space parameter to 0.95 (if you don't mind).
Thanks Graechan if you prefer mine, but -believe me- it came out just because I didn't see your!
