This script runs steps 8-13 of Tree Bark Text tutorial (Link deleted go here:Tree Bark Text Tutorial
0) You need to have layerfx.py installed (copied to your gimp's plug-ins folder). You can get it here layerfx plugin
1) To run this script with defaults of conbagui, you must copy conbagui's "mossy bark texture gray.jpg" and "Mossy bark texture.jpg" into your gimp's patterns folder.
2) Copy this script into your gimp's scripts folder (will be available under Script-Fu -> Alpha-to-Logo -> Tree bark)

5) Select/highlight the new layer with artwork, and run script-fu -> Alpha-to-logo -> Tree bark, options you can change shown below (defaults should be okay).

Conbagui,
I cut and pasted a lot of code from glass stain window tutorial, just changed the numbers. :)

trandoductin, nice script!

When I ran the script for the first time, an error message appeared.
It seems that the textures were not located.
I closed the message, and ran the script again. This time the window with the textures to be selected emerged.
Maybe because I have not used the textures in .Jpg format, but .Pat

With just one click and voila :clap :jumpclap :bigthup

However, I noticed that the script produces a slightly different result of the tutorial.
Comparing the two results, changing the visibility between the two layers, it is easier to see the difference. (see in treebark.xcf)

I tried to do the uploading .xcf for the forum, but is larger than allowed. Then I tried with .rar, but the forum does not accept this format.

So I sent the treeback.xcf for Treebark.xcf

i can't download your .xcf file it said i have to register :(
But i'll compare the script run with my "smooth" image when i followed the tutorial and see if there's any difference.

edit: you're right there is a difference. I'll have to double check my numbers see where i missed something.

edit: Yeah it was the inner shadow step i put a 45 instead of -45 for the angle. I changed it to -45 and updated the script.

It was reading that the images that were .jpg files weren't reading. I had the same error that Akros had.

if you didn't copy conbagui's .jpg files into patterns or if you've saved them as .pat files, then just ignore the error and choose your texture accordingly.

Ok, that one scares me too but it's amazing Akros.

trandoductin, it is really amazing what you do. Thank you. Shoot, I ran the script and it came out looking perfect. When I went step by step in the original tutorial (I must have done something wrong which is usually par for the course with me) it didn't come out like this. I didn't do the extending branches cuz' it was a quick one but it really came out nice.
