Thank you Issabella. I just desturated a picture and ran the dithering filter (it's in G'MIC under black and white). Change settings to taste.

your avatar reminds me of those 3d images that you have to focus behind the picture to reveal the 3d image (or cross your eyes and see the reverse bump map of the 3d image).

btw, I think trying to stare at those images are bad for your eyes. I used to have a book that had about 20 of them and i would focus behind the image to see them for hours. I got so good at focusing behind the image that when i had to read text from a regular book i would have problem focus on the text because my eyes were used to focusing behind the book...so i stopped looking for these images.
