2Ton if those folders are in your system files/brushes and you still have more than 1 copy of the '1. Pixel' brush
you will need to search your gimp for the '1-pixel.vbr' file to see where the additional file is
1 copy of '1-pixel.vbr' should be in your system files/brushes/basic folder, it's the location of any other copies that we need to know

I do have the basic brushes in the basic systems folder. I have no idea where a copy of them are, I find the files really hard to hunt down. Even with having a macbook for several years, I still find their file hunting system very difficult compared to the simple old windows versions. I'll try another way to search and see what I find.

I thought Mac was supposed to be user friendly

That's what they told me in the shop when I went to buy my laptop but common sense won out and now I think I'll give up on trying to get this script to run on Mac (sorry 2Ton It's over to you now)

Using their programs is user friendly but not digging around in the system, lol.

download from GimpScripts a new copy and replace your current script then try again this time
deliberately selecting the "1 pixel" brush in the menu even though it's already selected

Still crashes. However, even though I have my added brushes in the preferences folders, they are not showing up in Gimp. I removed all the old versions of gimp and my user folders to the desktop and replaced the brushes, and other goodies, to the proper Gimp. Am I supposed to do anything different from what I am showing in the screenshot in order for gimp to see and use? The paths came up automatically when I restarted Gimp after adding new brushes and scripts. I did not do a thing.

*edit...never mind, I restarted Gimp and voila, the added brushes did show up. But my 1 px brush is named 1 pixel #9. Where can I get the proper brush with the proper name?

2Ton go to your brushes dialogue
Image
you should have only 1 copy of the '1 pixel' brush
your GIMP/2.8/brushes folder should be empty

I do have only single copies of all my brushes now, as far as I know. Partha helped me clear out all the old stuff and start fresh. I don't know why that brush says #9. I have to go double check both the user and the main folders, but not tonight!

Using Paths is an excellent method to create 3D Text, or Ribbon Text

Using this script merely simplifies it
