David, I liked so much your idea that I have tried to reproduce what your steps were IMO to get the lights on.
1 selection of the lights
2 copy and paste on a separate layer on the original
3 duplicate the layer several times in screen/addition/dodge mode until to get the right tone

Please, could tell me if that is like that? or what was your way to act?

Issabella,

Not so sophisticated!
I copied the original to a new layer before using the daylight to moonlight script. Then I put a mask on the top layer and painted over the lights.
I also applied a curve to the bottom layer to get the lights as bright as possible without "burn-out".
All very crude - I am sure there are much better ways to achieve the same result.
