I can see so many possibilities with this script "circles along a path.Place your nodes real close and run the script.
The circles will contain a number sequence but you can delete or keep these.
You can make some neat caterpillars this way along a path you create.
You can choose circle size - type is set automatically i believe.

I wonder if this script could be edited to allow no text option and text color.
Also it would be nice to add gradients or another type of fill to the circle or text.

Christmas lights would be another good use.

Colors are your background/foreground selections, and text is whatever font you have selected at the time.

I saw this one at the registry too. Might make for a cool connect the dots type render, but I'm way too lazy to create such a path (and TSP renders really don't fit well with connect to dots).
