At the Gimp Shape Creator 6e web site and I noticed Gimp GuidesLab. I would rate it as an excellent Gimp Guide plug-in with advanced options, definitely worth a look. There is a tiny learning curve but overall straight forward. Just remember if you make a mistake it's, "Double click to delete the current guide.". Go for the 'arakne-guide-labB' version with the handy mirror option.

I remember reading that article prokoudine, thanks for adding the link. Give Gimp GuidesLab a go, I think it's worthy of your list.
