I'm no script coder, but I edited the script to work. The Ambient light was out of range. The slider will work, but the value stays at 0.

** Edit** see my next post for a better version.

Thank you. I'm really pleased to get this one working.

I just realized that I set the light values too low, resulting in the object being too dark. Please delete my old version and replace it with this one. The light range is much better in this one too.

This one an alternative. No great difference from racer-x's A bit more politically-correct ;)

Three or four deprecated procedures changed, see the commented lines in the script.
The ambient light slider now steps from 0 to 1 if required.

Always was a nice little bevel script, worth keeping.
Any script-fu experts out there who can make it work correctly with a Layer group?

Thanks rich2005. No one will ever accuse me of being a Gimp script writer. I'm more of a hacker really, but I get results now and then...

Exactly the same as me.
A good test is running a script using the gimp switch --pdb-compat-mode=off

Too old to get into script writing seriously. Most of it looks not much different to sanscrit.

edit: curses, missed one, gimp-edit-bucket-fill unbound variable. Oh-well maybe look at it tomorrow ;)
A quick look and the procedure gimp-edit-bucket-fill is no longer in Gimp 2.10 The script will work ok since Gimp 2.10 has compatibility mode enabled by default. It would be nice to get it 100% gimp 2.10 though.

GT-Bevel was updated for Gimp 2.10 The updated script is attached or look at previous posts

For Windows put gt-bevel-updt.scm in C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\scripts

That is ok up-to-and-including Gimp 2.10.12. There has been much updating 'old code' to GEGL for Gimp 2.10.14 and the script now only partially works. Makes a bump-map layer but does not complete. Might be a bug in the update or might not.

The fix (if you can call it a fix) is use the old bump map plugin, bumpmap64.exe also in the zip.

Put that in C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

looks like this

Thanks for this thread! I've been wanting a good bevel script forever and have never found one. There are some awesome effects here.

Testing here with Gimp2.10.15, I can see it has issues with older scripts calling BumpMap. Even LayerFX bevel option is now broken. I've tried playing with various parameters in the script, but have not been successful. Looks like I'll have to keep around a copy of Gimp2.10.8 for awhile. Bummer...

thank you Rich2005 post #68 for the GT Bevel script.

Hello racer-x. I also am unable to get Layer FX to work properly in gimp 2.10.12.
I use Windows 10. 64 bit. It seems every time I move up a step in Gimp there are a number of problems.

Hi
A further note on LayerFX.
Found this alternative on my computer. Have not used it for sometime. However it is working with Gimp 2.10.12 Windows 10, 64 bit.

GT Bevel V1.1

; V1.1 - For GIMP 2.10.x (Procedures Deprecated)
; (gimp-layer-new)
; (gimp-edit-bucket-fill)

I don't see edit bucket fill or layer new for v1. I assume you removed it. The bevel is very faint but the plugin is good.

Hello, I am a fan of GTBevel. Will this continue to work on Gimp 3 with Python3 only?

I think so, GT Bevel is a scheme script not a python plug-in.

A friend of mine testing Gimp 3 beta reported that GTBevel did not work. I hope the authors of it look into this.

After many days it works!

No other plug-ins needed.

Did you know that MareroQ updated this last year to be compatible for Gimp 2.10?

gt-bevel.scm does not have bevelreflect as a dependency. Sallyanne unfortunately confused it with the bevelreflect / Bevel Reflect Logo plugins.

What I can say is gt-bevel299b.scm does not work here: tried with linux Gimp 2.10. 14 / 22 / 28

No real error I can point to except it does not register

gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
script-fu-Warning: Too few arguments to 'script-fu-register' call
