Old plugin revisited, here is a plugin a lot may not have seen and some may not have used for some time
I have 32bit version as well as a script to help prepare for plugin
Image
for 32bit from the colorize-gimp 32bit folder install blas.dll and colorize.exe in your plugins folder, also place the script in your scripts folder
I have been unable to locate the source files to freshly compile, but maybe someone still has them in their back pockets
Image
Menu Location is Colors/Colorization

Thank you Graechan. I'm going to test it just now!

Graechan, could you explain what to do, where it is, and how to apply it? I don't know how to do it.

Issabella once you have Inserted all the files as in the initial post
1/ open image and desaturate
Image
2/ go to Script-Fu and run 'Prepare for Colorize', this will add an additional layer above the image for you to draw your colorize lines
3/ draw your colorize lines on the new layer
Image
the new layer shown below with a black Bkg to make all lines visible
Image
4/ set your image as the active layer and select Colors/Colorization
set the Menu as below making sure the new Color-Me layer is selected at the top of the menu, Click OK just ignore the black error screen behind the menu as it will go away when plugin is finished
Image
5/ thats all there is to it

Graechan, i added the dll file to GIMP-2/32/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins and the exe also and the filter doesn't show in the menus. (GIMP-2.8.14).
So i added the dll file to GIMP-2/32/bin and placed the exe in the GIMP-2/32/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins folder and still no menu item <image>/colors/colorization. Am i doing something wrong? Their are no errors on GIMP start either.
EDIT: Never mind Graechan i figured it out. I didn't realize 32 bit dll files would work in the user/gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder. :)
Working great now that i moved both the dll and exe to the user/gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder.

Rod It's strange how the files work in this plugin function the way you installed them shouldn't work but it does, but why wouldn't it 32bit mathmap with all it's 32bit dll's does

You can still download the original source from here:
http://www.zenthought.org/category/tags/gimp

However, the source code needs a patch in one of the files, as described by JamesH in this thread: http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f ... =30#p24121.
I have attached a ready-patched copy of the source for you to use if you wish. The source is in a folder suffixed "-jt" and the "version" string shown in the Procedure Browser reads "2007-09-30 Patched by JT 13-6-2015", but the files retain their original names.

You will also need the "libsuitesparse" library development package (as described by Mahvin in the previous thread http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=839)

On linux I just did:
apt-get install libsuitesparse-dev
And then the usual:
cd /the-folder-where-I-stashed-the-source/colorize-gimp-jt
make
make install
It compiled without error (just a few warnings about maybe-uninitialized variables) and ran first time.

If you're using MinGW/MSYS to compile for Windows, you should be able to use the package manager to fetch the necessary library and then build the same way.

Unzip and copy the executable file "colorize" to your personal plug-ins folder (~/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins)

Is there a plugin for Windows 64 bit? I ask because not everyone uses 32 bit.

I am using Gaechans as he posted in the first post here. Just place both files in the user/gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder and you should be all set. :)
Works for me. Windows 8.2 64 bit with version of GIIMP-2.8.14 64 bit

I have the Prep for Colorize Script loaded in the scripts folder here: GIMP 2>share>gimp>2.0>scripts but I don't see the "colorization" application for some reason, I don't get the other other part.. only the "Prep for Colorize" part. I have the script in the script folder but I only get part of the application.
Both the blas.dll and the colorize application are here: Mackenzie>.gimp-2.8>plug-ins>plug-ins

What am I doing wrong?
