Just got it working, so it's not polished enough to be released yet... Guess what it does:

If this is a script that creates a coil around a path - you deserve the next golden script award! :)

Now that does look cool. If you could have this follow and arbitrary path, then you could create some crazy looking renders. Very much look forward to sharing your new toy when you are happy enough with it. :)

Actually it draws a path that is a sine that zigzags following a path. The clever trick is that an option allows the zigs and the zags to be added to two distinct paths, so that you can stroke them in different layers and so put something in between. You can also stroke them differently, in the sample above the back strokes are a little darker than the front ones.

Aw, yes... my "section map" script. Have a good name to suggest? I also wonder if I put it as a companion script to Wrapmap on SF or it warrants its own project...

Yes, it follows an arbitrary path, but it's not too good on sharp corners.

Well, its very similar to G'MIC's 3D Lathe filter, but inverted (it displaces instead of fills). You could call it Inverse Centerline Lathe. I admit, it doesn't sound "catchy" for a name.

For the Mustang worshipers and the curious, another test I did, nothing hidden, all the layers and the paths:

Slinkys a cool name. :)
I was thinking more about the map script though. "profilemap"
As it creates a bump map from a profile.
